You are not "master race" you are 3%.
VR is 35%, they get it first.
Forget people with smaller laptops and 2k and 4k also, right?
And this is exactly what the real world actually does.
To be more exact, FIRST they optimize for whatever computer the dev is using.
THEN once they realize somebody else is going to play it, they find the most common and aim for that.
Then if they have time leftover, they add others, in the order of popularity.
So yes, that's EXACTLY how things work.
Anybody who went with ultrawide, expecting it to be the bleeding edge, and the next new thing... you bought a HDCD or a BETA tape player. You lost.
There is a difference between aged (on the market for a while) and dead (no longer manufactured). And on top replaced multiple times: e.g. Tape -> 5.25" / 3.5" disc, Zip / Tape data storage drives, CD / BluRay / HD disc, usb sticks..
Also most of todays larger gaming monitors come in non 4:3. So your pseudo argument is debunked. Sorry.
It makes as much sense to beg for ultrawide, as it does to wish for a copy on HDCD.
The number of players on steam using ultrawide is 3%, up from 1% a few years ago.
It's still a tiny TINY fragment.
You are using a dead format. You are not the cutting edge.
I never said it was "cutting edge" (whatever you mean by that).
Furthermore I never stated "ultrawide". I said larger, non 3:4 monitors.
The percentage of such users is definately higher than 3% worldwide.
One source I looked up quickly:
https://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution-stats/desktop/worldwide
And again. Such monitors are still produced and aren't "dead". I am trying to find a new 4:3 native 4K monitor above 34" < 45" with G-Sync support. So far without luck. So it is more the other way around from my perspective.
Anyway, I am not here to educate you. If the devs could support more resolutions in the future that would be great. If not, so be it. Amen.
It just didn't win the war.
Over 30% of steam users have VR, if they were going to do another format next, that's the logical one, not yours.
It benefit games where seeing on side is relevant like driving or 1st person games.
But for a game like Core Keeper why you actually need ultra-wide for? To see more fog of war on the sides? Why insist game developers should waste time and resources on something that's not really needed? Just because a minority wants it as a luxury?
If you're so desperate for a feature get in touch with the devs and sponsor the work it takes. Or just be patient and wait as they stated on the FAQ that they considered it but not a priority.
But even with standard 1080 resolution the width is kinda pointless. Enemies can already shoot you from off the top and bottom of the screen, but from the left and right you can see them from so far away you can shoot them without them even reacting. I imagine making ultrawide work would just encourage more cheesing because you can shoot enemies and bosses from even farther away.
Why would you do that?
Put it in a window, and use some of that other screen space for something else, you have all that room, why would you refuse to use it?
