i hate igneous the molten mass with a passion
As a solo player, it's difficult enough trying to survive as for every enemy around my level they can cut chunks out of my health, even with high tier armor. What's worse is that the quality of armor as you continue playing gets less and less useful. Before each one would be a massive game changer, but now they barely change other than the neat unique buffs they give.
This leads to my second point. Either buff the equipment or NERF IGNEOUS! I've probably fought it 20 times now, dying almost every time and only having succeeding once after using guerrilla tactics by abusing how far he can leave his origin point. Even then, I have to juggle trying to dodge his attacks that deal more than half my health, shredding through heals, dodging the natural mobs that spawn in on the sides because they ALL spawn via lava puddles, and the fact that the projectiles that heal Igneous are small and can heal him to full with only one of them making contact; even worse that they deal more than half my health as well.
Igneous is NOT solo friendly, and is a living hell to fight. Which is ironic, because he's harder to fight than the region boss.

Umm.... Okay... How much hp you have any way. Are you doing it on hard mode or stander mode or casual mode?

Have you level up your vitality, farming, fishing, mining,Running, cooking or any skill to max yet? It would make some thing easier. By doing it.

Igneous is the toughest blob boss in the game...

As for the armor differences, that's because at this point you are meant to pick the armor bonuses you like, then upgrade the armor to improve it's stats rather than finding a new armor with high stats.

I've not fought Igneous yet, though I know where he is, if his hits take more than half your health then I suspect your character isn't high enough level to be fighting it.
I suggest Poisonous Sickle and movement speed buff. Also, bring a Scarletite Hoe into the battle to clean up the lava slime puddles
eat food made of the yellow blisterfish (not sure, but it's def a fish) to get immune to slow from slime, drink buff pots (depending on ur build) and great health pots, use the throwing scimitar you can find from the desert caveling because it has a very quick atkspeed. use azeos' feather so you can dash and move slightly faster. once he summons the healing blob, focus on them first.

poison supposed to reduce healing so i used the pet rabbit as well.

and if possible, use the cosmos set (min 2 pieces) so you are immune to getting burned (ed: it might take long cuz u need to find 2 pieces first, but it's certainly a lot safer)

Heh...Igneous can be the hardest, or the EASIEST bossfights depending how you approach the boss.

IF you're thinking of cheesing it...

The only thing you need to do is stay out of its detecting range(making it just out of screen from your left/right side) and spamming it with ranged until it dies. Having the Omoroth's soul helps a lot. It might shoot a couple of fireballs due to weird aggro, but it's nothing if you pay attention.

it might work on glurch or the poison ones, but for igneous i can't really recommend that especially if you don't clean the area first of the fire butterfly, and the healing blobs need extra attention or it'll back on its prime again in a sec

as for the fireball, IIRC, for phase 1 it'll shoot 4 fireballs after 4 jumps and for phase 2 5 fireball after 5 jumps, make sure you know his attack pattern first since it's the same all the time and pay attention

It helps to clean the arena with a hoe and fill gaps with eg desert rock. Bridges don't work since they will be broken by Igneous.

I cleared the dungeon beforhand and used fences to block all the entrances to the arena, so that the fireflies won't join the fight.

Do you use buff food which grants immunity against burning? Fish in the lava and cook the dragon fish types to get useful buff food.

If your damage is too low, upgrade your armor and weapon as far as you can towards level 19. Farming the Shimmering Frontier and the Passage is usually more rewarding than fighting Igneous and allows you to upgrade your equipment of choice to the highest level and then Igneous may go down in seconds ...

They seem to have fixed this in a recent update. The last time I re-summoned the blob bosses they still come at me even if they're off screen when I shoot them. They do still have a max range they will chase you, but they don't sit and wait anymore.

You can't really do that when the boss is sitting there defending his area when you first fight him. :)

The arena is bigger than the aggro range of the boss, so you can start work near the walls ... If the boss attacks you or your pet accidently attacks the boss when fighting other mobs, you should be able to run out of the arena to reset the boss fight.

It is important to have some clear area without obstacles where you can move fast. Clearing the outer circle of the arena helps.

Interesting, good to see the example. The other blobs were for sure chasing me down from off the screen. Are you playing on hard mode? Maybe that's what the difference was?

nice vid, let me just say that your gear is most probably maxed out (phantom spark is maxed out for sure and has infinite durability), making it easier. unfortunately for some player that just encounter him, rarely use buffs, and/or have underleveled gears (especially weapons) then it might take a very long time or feel like plainly impossible. it might not work that well. and for me personally the healing blobs are annoying so i do need to deal with those as to stop him for healing.

and i don't know why but i feel igneous uses the blob rather randomly, no exact pattern, so it might depend on your luck

do share the equipment, and buffs so OP can copy or tweak the build. cheers

next, people gonna complain about the golden skill level, or the difficulty, or not enough durability even though you can literally just put a repair station behind you

Except for the 3 early bosses, all other bosses in Core Keeper are optional, so the players can individually choose how much they want to level their skills and upgrade their equipment and prepare buff food before they engage the optional bosses.
