Chests Vanished in Spawn
I was AFK in the spawn area for a couple of hours. When I got back some workbenches and chests where destroyed. I was able to pick them up , but my main chest with all my Ingots and main crafting ingredients is gone. 10-20 hours of loot gone! Can I roll back the save. And wtf happened? :steamsad:

So 1 week no responses and no help. Game is Early Access so guess I'll have to wait till release. :repoop:

Well, I have no answer for a chest just disappearing, but stuff being destroyed could have been from a fight between enemies of different tribes. You may have noticed that sometimes enemies seem to track you: a group of enemies will spawn that just knows where you've been and follows your trail to some conclusion. If, say, larvas bumped into any of the cave dwellers on the way, they'll definitely fight it out. It's probably the explanation for coming back to find stuff destroyed; again, assuming you have easy access to the area.

But stuff shouldn't just disappear, as far as I know. I've never had it happen to me, and guessing from the general silence, no one else has had much issue with it. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but it seems pretty isolated.

Thx for the response. I'll wait till release for a new play through. It just sux having hours of grinding to just vanish. Enemies should not spawn near the core, unless on "Placed" spawn tiles. But what do i know.

They shouldn't. The creatures in the scenario I described should also only be spawning from the special enemy spawn flooring, as you say. However, the enemy spawn distance is pretty large (~200 tiles, I think), so if you aren't very diligent in clearing out those spawn tiles in a LARGE swath, you're going to have spawns out in the world.

There are apparently ways to edit back your stuff with some minor knowledge of JSON structure. I remember a post where someone complained about accidentally selling something crucial (which thankfully didn't happen, as the guy found his item later in a chest). Another person responded that you could just edit your character file slightly to return the item. I think he gave a description for how you could do it?

Edit: Yeah, here's apparently someone who made a tool that can tweak a character file. I haven't tried it myself, either, so do your diligence before trying strange websites.

Ok, option 2... the full cheaty version...

Again make a back up so everything in it's current state is safe..

then...https://core-keeper-save-editor.com - Use 'Import' to grab the character you want to edit. I've never used it myself so it might be a good idea to empty your characters bags and inventory bar into a chest 1st, or make another character and give it the item then put the item in a chest for your main.

Before you do that you gotta promise not to abuse it and ruin your own gaming experience. :partygoblin:

Really, the resource setback is crap; I totally feel you. It would enrage me if it happened to me. But having played to endgame, I can tell you at this point that most resources are extremely plentiful (assuming we're talking about trees, ores, bars, enemy drops, etc., not some special event loot), and realistically the loss shouldn't be too bad. It's just having to repeat efforts always sucks. Good luck to you, regardless.

I had the exact same thing happen to me just now, My farm chest full of seeds and produce that sat next to my cooking station is just gone. Nothing remains.
So at the very least this is still happening in 0.6.1.2-27

I understand that having characters and worlds independent means infinity but still.. wtf..

I had also noticed that the copper key chest i placed down waiting for a key was floating as an item, and walking through my base must have picked up my electronics workbench at some point before i noticed this. This is what happens when we fall asleep and/or save and quit after having left for some hours?

I have a chest that also disappeared. It seems to be the copper key chest I opened. I cannot place another chest where it was.

I dug up the ground under where the chest was and all my stuff spawned back. It seems the chest was just invisible.

Seem like a display problem. With everything missing or invisible and can not be pick or shovelling. But after dig up a ground then everything gone back to player. Mine is a trap is missing and don't do anything to enemy until dig up and replace item again.

So this is an issue for the last 5 months at least? i just lost a giant slime chest with a ton of ores. And after i finished freaking out, i noticed that some doors in the base also missing. And one of the users said to try and dig around the place with missing stuff, and it worked. i removed the ground where chest was and everything fell into my inventory. so it is a pretty major glitch, and it exist at least since the beginning of august?

I've also experienced this, first with some crops disappearing, then with some conveyors and now my early metals chest. Quitting completely and restarting the game seems to help, but can also cause other things to disappear. Today it started with a handful of conveyors on my orange slime farm, then when I reloaded again, my copper/tin/iron chest vanished. As people have said, it's definitely a display bug, as when it was my crops and conveyors, i could place down others of their kind, but they'd automatically return to pickup form. It gets annoying.

I don't think so? My farm was relatively contained when the plants vanished, but the other stuff that vanished is in a more open area, so I can't say that it's impossible for that to be the case.

I've seen this happen once or twice, just rebuild and go on with your life. :)

This just happened to my game as well, I had 4 chests and a smelting bench all go missing at the same time. Digging up the ground where they were made them reappear.

I happened to be fighting Azeos and died, any chance anyone else was doing the same?

I can say for certain that I was not fighting Azeos, or any boss for that matter.
Though I think I had been exploring over in that area, mostly farming mold and crystal areas before returning and discovering them missing the first time. Maybe it's a distance issue? Like, the objects de-render after a certain distance, and when you return, they don't all load?

I've had it happen all over the place.

It seems to just hit a random sized rectangle. Reloading the game has always fixed it for me.

I've had it hit chests, crops, enemies, even an ore mine disappeared. I thought it was just used up but the next day it was back when I loaded the game again.

I've had it happen many times in three different worlds, so I don't think it was a specific thing that triggered it.

I suspect it's an issue with loading things in an area I've left and come back to.
