When mission starts, plan out your route. You can see the timer extenders in the fog of war and you can see where blooms are. If there are any timer extenders out of the way, use interceptor for those (super helpful if he has armor with +movement). Use librarian mass teleport to bring him back to pods on your main route. If you can 1 turn a pod but are left with no AP on anything and warp surge is about to come, might be better to just extend it for one more turn.
Once you get to spreader you can just gate of infinity onto it and kill it in one turn if you dont want to deal with reinforcements. On legendary, keep finishing those with 12+ turns left, altho my first one was a disaster since I didnt know what I was doing, finished with 0 turns left and whole squad at half health or less.
No need to rush. Its really very easy.
Seriously just whack a few vents along the way, it makes the timer a non-issue
In my opinion, Spreader missions are the easiest in the game because you literally just have to kill one enemy and you get extracted immediately. Every other mission there is more that you have to do, and you don't necessarily get extracted straight away.
Most of the time I finish the mission with the timer higher than where it was at the start of the mission
You can practically skip from pod to pod all the way to the spreader on the same turn.
