Dear Wolves and Lambs, 
It has now been exactly a week since the release of version 0.9.2, which included a wide range of balance adjustments. We hope you have been enjoying KILLER INN in its new state. 

As we mentioned in the patch notes, the main goal of this update was to improve the game’s overall balance and pacing, with a particular focus on characters, while also laying the groundwork for the next major 0.9.3 update. 

We have already seen some changes in both character popularity and weapon usage, and today, we would like to share a quick look at the latest data.

This week’s top two were Author, who is exceptionally efficient at completing quests to collect the tokens needed for the chests, and Detective, a powerful tank character who gains extra HP by picking up clues. These two are also great choices for players who are just getting started with the game. 

Author also gets every service from the NPC staff for free—buying shared clues, tracking, and even healing. With that kind of ability, it is no surprise that she sits firmly at the top of the usage rankings. She may be getting a little too much VIP treatment... 

You may wonder why exactly she is treated like a VIP in a death game like this? The answer may be hidden within her character story. We hope you will try out Author and unlock every chapter of her story.

The SMG, once described by some players as a “bad pull” when it came out of a chest, has now risen all the way to the number one spot in usage rate. (The person writing this article has loved the SMG from the very beginning, so this is a personal triumph.) 

Before this patch, causes of death were heavily skewed toward gunfire. In 0.9.2, however, the usage of melee weapons such as the axe and club has also risen significantly. In addition, now that equipped defensive utility items can be seen in Focus Mode, players are more often able to think, “Alright, no Neck Guard—that means the Knife will work!” As a result, kills with Knives and Blackout Vapor have also been increasing. 

One thing the KILLER INN team always keeps in mind is that we do not want this to become a game where players cannot compete at all unless they have great aim. We will continue making adjustments so that not only melee weapons, but also assassination weapons, traps, and grenades have more chances to shine. 

Even in version 0.9.2, the overall environment still continues to favor the lamb team. 

We did see some improvement after partially revising how Partial Clues are dropped, but we believe the situation is still not close enough from balanced against how quickly and easily the Lambs can identify Wolves. Even when Wolves try to stay hidden and avoid drawing suspicion, they can still be revealed too easily—even before they have made a kill, and even while their guilt level is still LOW. We believe this is an area with plenty of room for improvement. 

We want to further strengthen the uniquely KILLER INN experience of earning someone’s trust, only to betray them at the very end. 

During the Free Weekend held this past weekend, many new players joined us in KILLER INN. 

Seeing members of the community encouraging one another by saying, “Let’s be kind and easy to beginners!” truly warmed our hearts. It reminded us once again that what the KILLER INN team is most proud of, without question, is our community. 

The Free Weekend was also a valuable learning opportunity for us. We will continue thinking carefully about what KILLER INN should be if we want complete beginners to enjoy the game from their very early matches—and, hopefully, come to love it the way all of you do. We will keep looking closely at what is missing, and what needs to change. 

Alongside preparing for the next update, we will also continue working on initiatives that the community can enjoy. We would like to hold more events where we can play KILLER INN together with all of you, and we hope to do so on a broader scale going forward. Please stay tuned!
