I'm not reading in case this game magically becomes great after a few patches, but there probably is more understanding in the ending if you look up Phillip K. D(i)ck's Black Iron Prison. It was a real life vision he had that was proven true to him by revealing a birth defect in his son that required surgery but would not have been able to be observed. I'm really into this stuff. Most people aren't as into as I am, but there are dorks like me :)
I was really looking forward to this but after reading a good few reviews that are more than 'hurr durr performance bad or bestest game eveor'..I'm not too sure now
Honestly, one of the better games I’ve played in a long time. Really surprised by some of the reviews.
What a dildo!
7/10. Gameplay and combat was a lot of fun but the story and character were very lacking, borderline felt as if they just recorded the blueprint of a first draft. Story isn't really the point I suppose, as the gameplay loop tends to be a stronger draw for these types of Action Horror games. When it came to the gamepaly the only thing that I found frustrating were the reoccurring Mini Boss fights. As they got rather tedious (dodge once, shoot once, dodge once, shoot once, repeat till sponge dies). But the rest of the time I highly enjoyed the combat encounters on MaxSec.
Would've liked to start a second run but think I'll wait for that New Game + update in Feb (mainly to try and max every upgrade). As by that point I do hope they maybe add a way to skip cutscenes. As thosoe unskippable cutscenes and linear "walking/shimming the cliff to the next section" moments, where there is no exploration does not make a second run all that enticing (since I mostly just want to do the fights again). Especially compared to how fun it was to redo REmake 2 over and over again to try and get faster timers and higher ranks.
Steam says the game took me about 15 hours to beat. Had fun with it.
I'm satisfied, normally I take a break (from the title) but in that case I wanna replay it soon.
All in all I'm very impressed by the game art, immersion and story. Technically, I'm one of those who had no stuttering.
I can't wait to continue with the story.
