As such a meaningful performance boost is minimal and if your CPU isn't a 12700k or better, you probably don't see ANY perceivable FPS improvement.
The game was designed to run on an XBOXone S... Doesn't like modern cpu's at all.
playing in 3440x1440 @60hz
I am testing in areas with grates in the ground... The AA on this game is not great (no pun intended) with any setting though, but 1440P with FSR2 quality is a mess.
What I decided on was 4K, with temporal upscale and a 70% render resolution which is just a tad over 1440P.
It looks better than 4K and FSR2 quality, less shimmering.
RT on medium.
Can get the half refresh rate lock of 72FPS in RTSS with those settings, with a fluctuating 15-25% overhead remaining.
4070ti and 4080 desktop users should expect that sort of performance, as well as 3080ti/3090/3090 ti users. I am on a 4090m.
Running this game flat out, RT maxed, everything ultra, 4K native, 100% render, no FSR, gets about 30 FPS average on said hardware. For this kind of game, some people are genuinely happy with a stable 30 FPS. I'm not, and have decided on actually going to 60hz display mode, FPS limited to 60 (use RTSS over the in game limiter, even if you use V-sync use RTSS, it will smooth out the frame time to perfectly even/flat).
At 60 FPS I can crank the RT from medium to high and maybe go to an 80% render of 4K.
Honestly I'd be happy with 1440P native but it doesn't look right.
And yes, even though with the settings I am using, I am basically rendering at 1440P base resolution, the upscaling to 4K actually helps with the aliasing drastically.
i.e. 4K with 70% temporal scale is better than 1440P native, noticeably so.
Get it and enjoy the image quality
by FG, do you mean frame gen? I didn't see a frame gen OR FSR3 option in Callisto Protocol. Has there been a new update possibly?
Yes I think with FSR3 and framgen it would transform the game.
I mean you can play 4k 144 FPS with everything on max without RT and FSR3 on Quality
