The playtesting phase is officially complete — and we want to give a huge thank you for the hundreds of opinions, suggestions, and detailed feedback you shared with us. You've helped us tremendously, and we've learned a lot thanks to you!

When is the premiere?

While you were testing, we were busy getting the whole experience ready for its next big step — Early Access. So now, the big question is: When can you play Into The Darkness VR again?

Let’s just say… sooner than you might expect.

Pause

Im playing on valve index and have no way to bring up the pause menu, I press and even hold down the button that corresponds to Y button but nothing happens, pls help

Playtest Build 3.0 AVAILABLE NOW - Into The Darkness VR

Hey there!

It's time for the final stage of our playtests — and this one's a big one! This time, we're especially focused on Story Mode, and we can't wait to hear what you think. To kick things off, we're sharing the beginning of Into The Darkness VR with you. Dive in, explore, and let us know how it feels!

Changelog:

Updated content for Playtest 3.0 [Story Mode]
Reworked backpack behavior
Reworked inventory slot system – now adjustable during gameplay
Stabilized game physics
Improved accuracy when throwing dynamic objects
Optimized overall performance
Optimized VRAM usage and improved streaming pool handling
Various minor bug fixes
Fixed an issue where Oculus/Meta controllers might not function properly
Fixed a bug where enemies sometimes failed to attack the player
Fixed an issue where the game might not render correctly when the wrong default OpenXR platform was selected; OpenXR selection is no longer required

Known issues:

Playtests are designed for Meta headsets
Clicking "continue" without reaching the first checkpoint will cause the game to load forever
Most settings are currently non-functional – changing them has no effect.
Grabbing enemies may occasionally cause performance drops.
Footstep impact sounds can sometimes repeat rapidly in quick succession.
On systems with slower hard drives, you can experience texture pop-in
Some objects may not be grabbable at this time.
Physics accuracy may decrease during performance drops
If the user is sitting in real life but Frank remains standing in-game, please recalibrate player height in the main menu.

Damn this thing is ancient

Found your post about playtests on twitter, game looks great, I was excited. Then I read a couple of posts here and the history of the development speaks for itself... For games that get delayed multiple years, I don't think I've heard of one that did finally release and was a success. But hey, I'll check out the playtest, if it's filled with bugs then the situation will be clear....

At this stage of development the game looks too unfinished even for testing. At least make the inventory work first before starting early access

probably should develop for Quest 3 and then do a PC VR / PS VR 2 port later. the sales just aren't there for PC VR.

no wires

i play on quest 3s on steam and i always play gameplay but when i get to the room where you have to rearrange wires the wires just arent there. i play at mostly all lowest graphics settings. some other items dont have textures as well.
