I did the renaming of files technique, and then PJ Maybe's idea. Nothing worked for me. Still crashes 5 seconds in.

1. X - Moved all videos into another folder (I thought maybe usual bug with the video. Sometimes it helps).
2. X - Renamed the AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe and AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe
3. X - Compatibility mode with: win 7, win vista.
4. X - Tried to run: AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe, AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe, AssassinsCreed_Game.exe, testapp.exe
5. X - Duplciated the AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe and named it with Dx10. (To force steam use the Dx9 if it ignore the naming change).
6. X - Vice Versa. Duplciated the AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe and named it with Dx9.
7. X - Added the Dx9 and Dx10 executable (as a non-steam game) into the steam browser.
8. FIXED: I turn on the offline mode in the Steam AND turn on the airplane mode on the laptop. (It seemed to be true that the game fails to connect with something and crashes on the try. There are some solutions to prohibit the internet connection for the game adding rule to the firewall. I think that it will help.)
To find these files just right click on Assassin's Creed in your Steam Library. Select 'Manage'. At the pop-up box just click on 'Browse Local files' tab and then select the button that say 'Browse Local files' and a file on your computer will open up and you will see the two files in question. Just double click the Dx9 .exe one and the game launches.
