please help with this lan, driving me crazy
Please help me its driving me mad, and not for the first time, I have given up this game many times for similar issues so I must be doing something wrong. Pics of my current issue are bellow. There are three locks protecting the server, one of which I cant get too. I have hacked all three terminals and there is no dial up numbers on them. Forcing the two locks I can get too does nothing.
Hope some one can help,

Thanks,

Phill

If you zip up your saves folder I can have a real look for you.

My guess for the lock that you can't get to is that it's behind the terminal at the top, which if you click should highlight one of the three terminals at the bottom as a valid subnet. You need to hack into the one that's a valid subnet and then use lan spoof on it, which will let you access the terminal at the top. Probe it to see if it has any links after you've spoofed, or pop it to see if it has useful information.

Thank you for your response! I will happily zip my save file, Not sure how to give you it though?

Clicking on the terminals doesn't highlight any others, and they have no other information when hacked. Only thing that highlights anything else is the server to the three locks.

Should be able to upload it to some hosting service and then link it as you did with your pictures. Don't know off of the top of my head which ones that Steam doesn't filter URLs for.

I've seen people post Google Drive links.

Sloppy menu'ing on my part haha. But yeah, it is as I said. You just spoof one of the bottom three, crack the top, then probe the top to get to the lolck.
Really? Honestly I have no problems with the really complicated ones, this easy looking one blew my mind. I can't re try your instructions at the mo as the TV has been comendered. Thank you Ian and sorry

I'm not getting this at all, I hack the lower terminals and I spoof, it won't let me into the top one, just shows the lower ones being subnet. I'm being thick I know but just don't get it

Just in case your still paying attention, do I now have to force these locks or is there another thing I'm missing?

On this map layout you have to force the locks because there is no controller. I think the three-locks layout is the only one that requires you to force locks. Forcing a lock will trigger the admin to log in and active trace, but you can hit reset to start at the beginning of the LAN and lose the admin while locks remains unlocked.

Also in case you didn't know, for any of these delete/destroy missions it's super handy to have a copy of revelation on your gateway. You can copy it to the server and run it via console. It will destroy data, nuke the system, and the news broadcasting the destruction will be instant instead of taking some in-game hours.

Thank you Ian I really appreciate it. Revelation? The reason I always struggle is becausae I rob a bank super early to get all the kit but it doesnt allow me to learn.

Whoa you've never played the story missions? You're in for a treat

Yeah I have to force myself not to do that when I replay this game haha. I usually just avoid LAN missions because they take too much time, or if I'm feeling adventurous then I just avoid copy LAN missions because those suck the most. Worst is when file server is right next to a dial-in so you have so little time to copy files before admin boots ya.
Oh so bank robbing is bad and i'm missing the game? Oh if that the case, thank you even more, I will restart yet again and behave. Avoid Lan but most of all copy Lan, check, thankyou :) Is there a point later where it is safe to rob the bank perhaps?

After the story ark I suppose. But by that time you will probably have gotten enough money to fully upgrade your gateway. The general advice is to be thrifty and only buy max version software and stick to the starter gateway until you have money for the best so you don't waste money on software/hardware that becomes useless. You don't need 8 CPUs if you make 8x as many bounces so your starter deck has all the time in the world to crack a cypher haha.

The normal kinda progression for the game is slowly churning though missions, running into ones where you don't have the right hardware/software to beat them, saving up, buying it then finishing those jobs to up your rank and actual knowledge of missions.

Robbing the bank massively ups your XP so you get a really high rank that unlocks most/all missions and gives you a ton of cash upfront.

Another way people cheese the game is that they keep pestering employers after contacting them to pay them up front before accepting a mission (if they decline you can exit and re-enter for another chance). So if you need decrypter but don't have it, you can take on a bunch of jobs with payment upfront, buy max level decrypter, and then complete them all at once. Hitting the contact screen and asking once for full/half upfront is a normal non-cheese mechanic and a good strategy if you're strapped for cash.
I'm on it now Ian, thank you :) great help my man! Thank you so much
