SNK, PLEASE fix/add these in a new (final?) update!
Hello!

I strongly believe these are problems that need to be fixed in KOF XV:

1. No V-SYNC on/off in the display options is very bad. To activate it, you have to find an .INI file.
The game tears terribly without V-SYNC, even on my system, which far exceeds the game's requirements. Please, add that display option!

2. Some subtitles are broken, like Leona's winning quote in story mode against Shun'Ei. It goes out of the screen and you can't read a thing. Check them all, please, I'm sure there are others with similar problems. This makes the game feel unpolished.
Note: It happens with English and Spanish texts (I'm afraid also with others).

3. Subtitles' semi transparent background is more annoying than helpful. Please add an option to turn it off or remove it completely. It doesn't help in any scene (I saw every single one of them), it just pollutes shots that would make beautiful screenshots.

4. No internal resolution scaling is a problem, too. Please try to add it.
Instance: Borderless window mode forces a super high internal resolution because of my monitor and desktop resolution, and when playing in this mode, I can't change the game's resolution (it's greyed out). Internal resolution scaling could help me and many!

5. Improving anti-aliasing would be amazing. When at 1080p, the game looks very jaggy and it's a shame because its art direction is amazing. Even at 4K there are still some rough looking edges.

6. Please, make it possible to enter training mode without having to confirm a second controller. I don't understand why this happens? It wasn't a problem in KOF XIV.

Now, things that I was expecting as a fan and are still not in the game (and really should be) are:

1. Still no SURVIVAL and TIME ATTACK modes? Single player is VERY limited and I'm sure that's keeping away the huge casual player audience. Please, add them! They're essential modes to keep a fighting game going locally.

2. Why aren't there local rankings anymore? KOF XIV had MY RANKING for single player modes (story, survival and time trial) and those were fun for competing and beating at home or locally with friends. It'd be great to have this back and even be able to write initials like in the older games.

3. No CHARACTER RECORDS...? This was present in KOF XIV as well and it's missing here.

4. There's NO ARTWORK in the gallery, despite it being mentioned in the very first trailers of the game. PLEASE, add all artwork possible from all KOF games and categorize them (with credits to the artists) like it was done with the music. This would be a real treat for long time fans and add a lot of replay value.
Note: Artwork could be unlocked for every battle won in survival mode, just an idea.

5. The official website of the game has awesome character profiles with useful info, even personal details, and (fictional) interviews with the them! Not to mention the excellently written teams' stories! Why not add them all to the game, somehow? These characters are beloved by its fans and this material would also allow everyone to get deeper into KOF's passionate lore.

6. Some KOF XIV costumes could be implemented (especially Athena's, Mature's and Vice's). Also, some amazing classic stages, like favorites: Heidern Fleet, Geese Tower, Old Castle, Hotel Marine Paradise, The Bund, Guanajuato Dynamite Ring, The Great Wall of China, and especially City Circuit.

7. EXTRA: There are mods for the current training stage that make it appear like the old 2D backgrounds from the classic KOF games. Why not "officialize" this? Imagine being able to select a lot of simple flat, yet nostalgic, stages just for fun (and the old music is already in KOF XV...) There are lots of these!

Thanks for reading, friends. I love this game and would love it to be the true celebration the franchise needs.

P.S. PLEASE, if you agree with some or all said in this post, comment below, so it stays relevant in the forums.

i've never had nor heard of such an issue in my life until now. i think that's a you problem, man. RIP.

also i cannot remember the last time i've seen japanese devs listen to opinions and requests from the steam forums; they seem to be very uninterested in browsing this place, based on many of my past experiences. too bad. :aushrug:

Can you enter training mode in KOF XV on Steam without 2nd controller confirmation (whether it's a gamepad or keyboard? Can you give it a try and confirm? It's not a HUGE issue, but many times I streamed my game to my bigger TV and I don't have a 2nd controller laying around nor the keyboard and it's annoying to go all the way up to the PC to be able to enter training mode. Go check around the net and you'll see many people complaining for years.

hoooly crap bro. after reinstalling the game, i tried going into training mode using a keyboard and i entered completely fine without needing to confirm a 2nd controller, but then i switched to my xbox gamepad and THEN it began asking for a 2nd controller. you were right man. it appears to be a gamepad issue. how come i've never heard anyone i've played kof15 with ever complain about this?? this is ridiculous. hopefully their next game, city of the wolves, doesn't have this issue.

also, this small thing to note, but you can enter training mode with a keyboard (while the gamepad is unplugged) and then plug in the gamepad after you've reached the character select screen and you'll be able to use it fine until you fully exit training mode back into the main menu. although i don't think this is any better than going through the double controller route.

Thanks for checking and for your post, pal. Like you said, devs don't really come check and fix nowadays, at least not not-indie ones, but maybe we'll come across some skilled modders around here...

vsync adds input lag though
SNK doesn't care about this game anymore. They didn't even give Mature and Vice a new stage and they're not going to make any more characters since they released an Ultimate edition apparently.

I play with V-sync on with no problem, both offline and online. Maybe hardcore/pro players notice some input lag, but having the option for at least playing offline would be great.

I bought many "Ultimate" versions of games before and most of them kept releasing stuff after that... :-/ (And then named "Definitive" or "Complete" versions to the final package, eventually).

I don't think they're gonna add most of the things I put in the OP, but at least survival mode would do it for me...
As a cheap alternative to survival mode, have you tried VS CPU with random as your opponent? I know it doesn't track the number of survived rounds, but at least it provides an infinite string of fights with different CPU opponents, and works with random DJ station.

Actually, I didn't! I'm going to give it a try right now!

Edit: I played for around half an hour the way you mentioned and I admit I completely forgot VS mode also randomized both individual characters and teams from set to set (unfortunately not stages). It was really enjoyable and definitely scratches the itch a little bit. Thanks a lot!!

That said, of course a true survival mode would be the way to go.
Street Fighter V Champion Edition has the best survival mode there is and man, it would be a dream for KOFXV to have something similar to that (or at least a simple one with local ratings and unlockables).

In Training Mode:

- Add the option of watching 2 CPUs battle in training mode
- Add the option of stage selection (random) when 0HP is reached in training mode

Both options are available in Training Mode in 98UMFE and 02UM.
It really feels like SNK took one step forward and two steps back with this game.
Man, why do fans have better ideas then actual game developers?
