How the hell do you get to a pause menu in a fight?

Start button and Esc do nothing.

I saw someone mention changing to hold but that didnt do ♥♥♥♥ all.

How the hell do they release a game you cant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pause?

If you mean online fights you cannot. Against PC it's the start button and works for me on the controller.

Offline, and the start button does nothing

Pausing only works when the round is live, so you can't pause before the announcer has started the fight or after a KO. Its lame. But it makes for a fun contest to see if you can pause the game at round start before the CPU hits you.
