SF6 makes KOFXV look ...old.
I'm an SNK fan. For most of the second half of the 90's, I preferred the KoF games over the Street Fighter ones.

When KOFXV came out, I thought it looked great. That perception changed after playing Street Fighter 6, though. Now I think it looks last-gen.

I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming Garou sequel. I thought the original could compete with Third Strike quite well, despite running on much older hardware.

Just saying that SNK is going to have to step up their game to meet the bar SF6 has set.

SNK is already doing that with the new Garou. Besides, personally, I couldn't care less about SF6. I know it's a big game and the entire FGC is fascinated by it, but it's not my cup of tea.

That's kind of a juvenile 'I love Sega but don't care for Nintendo' mindset, isn't it. Both franchises were practically separated at birth and I don't understand how you can love one but don't care for the other at all.

I think even T7 or DOA6 make KOFXV look "old", but probably old is the wrong word.
It looks 2D.

Its really difficult to compare these beat em ups from a visual point of view.
They are all so different with their very own style.
E.g. i really hate the visuals of SF-franchise, even of SF6, thats why i never bought one myself. I think the chars don't look realistic/good at all. My brother said still much better as DOA6, these chars don't look realistic at all. While for me DOA was always let's say "semi-realistic" in terms of visuals.

Visuals are probably the most subjectiv thing possible.
Comparing different games is difficult (except for technical stuff like polygoncount, refreshrate and so on). It's just about which style you prefer.

I'm sorry but that's 100% on you and your taste in graphics. Because KOFXV already looked really dated and low quality when it released. The entire franchise has not had up to date graphics for any of their parts when they released since the 16bit era.

I mean what they did well were the comedial movements, the effects of fireballs etc and the high resolution settings. But everything else was already on a lower level than fighting games that released somewhere between 2015 and 2017. The textures are without any kind of structure, which is something that was done in the 2k10 years. And if you look at the faces, even though their comic looks are really cute, many share the same template just with different eyes, mouth and hair put onto it.

In the end it doesn't really matter. KoF does not have the funds to look better, nor do the players really demand it.

Yeah nice standard of a tiny ass roster that looks like an early access game. On top of that apply a visual style so garbage that the game looks ugly AF in modern graphics. No thank you.

EDIT: Private profiler SF6 lovers strikes again in KOF forums. Not surprised. Go back to your beloved UGLY FIGHTER 6.

I loved SF4 but didn't like 5 and I'm not at all impressed by 6 don't even like the roster.
KoFXV looks fantastic to me, could it be better? OFC it could but as someone above said if you believe it looks "old" it's 100% on you.

Do not forget SNK does not count with the budget a giant as Crapcom does.

Unfortunately KoF is not as popular or profitable as SF and even in that case they really evolved from the 2D era to make interestings experiments like in XIII, XIV and XV. KoFXV is the best in terms of graphics from all of the KoF series you may dislike it or consider it inferior in comparison with other games from richer companies but that's a personal issue afterall.

Personally I don't care how many people play or praise a game like SF6 the roster sucks to me while I love KoFXV and think it's the best ever KoF made to date.

I think the visual fidelity of KOF XV is fine, problem is art direction. If you look at older games (2D or 3D) what makes them endure the test of time is great art direction. When I look at FF: CotW first screens it seems to be step in right direction.

Personally I don't agree. KOFXV looks really good in it's own art style. A massive improvement over KOFXIV. That one was painful to watch.

XIV had *huge* gfx quality inconsistency problem. Some stages looked great, others, like that train stage looked like a straight port of a dreamcast game. Characters suffered from the same syndrome, just to lesser extent.

For XV - characters looking great. For stages - some look worse than the others but there's a a huge improvement overall. And the first and foremost - the character design itself is far superior to a bunch of genetically engineered gorillas in SF6. And i remember people bashing SFV for design choices - it looks like SFV was the last SF game that have any visual similarity to its roots.

Being on Neo Geo hardware in the 90's and early 2000's, SNK fighting games were always visually behind Capcom's CPS2 and CPS3 fighting games. Never stopped me from playing 'em all, though. Why complain now if the gameplay's still good?

CPS3 obviously, that came a generation later. And even then, not by that much. I spent some time ripping sprites from both Garou and Third Strike, and the former has more frames per animation on average.

KOF 15 looks like how KOF always has. Street Fighter 6 looks like it just came back from the uncanny valley and needed to put makeup on to be presentable.:edwin:
