try to stick with characters that have a better confirms for combos like rock gato robert. avoid yuri leona (leona has good confirms but the window to press buttons is super hard) until you have more experience.

I would guess the thing that really scares casuals about kof is having to learn 3 characters to some degree, and the lack of noobies in ranked queue. Though after I've gotten into KOF it's crazy fun even if you're getting beaten up (but not too much :p). But you only see the mountain when you are starting, not what's behind :)
depends on the character you play. Combo can be iffy at the beginning.
Combos are shorter and much faster and depending on the distance, so you dont whiff.
The only problem i have so far is to combo from DP to special move.
KOF is clearly too complicated for your burger brain.
