Is this a good controller for the game?

So far the Series X controller is one of the best for fighting games overall(definitely better than PS4 controller), I haven't tried anything else for KOF yet, but so far it works fine.

Thanks. I'm debating on buying this. Wont play online vs until I get at least somewhat good....is there a lot of single player content?

I honestly don't know, I'm the kind of player who goes to the training mode and goes to play vs.

No, the d-pad is horrible for fighters and tbh any game that relies on it for movement. If you want a good pad for FGs, look at some of the Hori fight pads OR the retrobit/8-bitdo retro controllers (like the Genesis/Saturn pads).

Dunno about Series X, but Xbox 360 and Xbox One have bad dpads, especially the former.

I have not once seen anyone use an Xbox pad in tournament and for good reason. It's terrible. What other pads have you tried?

I have a series X controller. The d-pad is WAY different than the 360/one

Im using XBox Series X D-pad to play. The reason because I haven't completed Mission Trials is not because the D-pad is bad, is because Im not fast enough for those inputs.

This game will teach you to make inputs correctly for those combos, sometimes is lenient, but most of the time is strict.

I have mixed feelings about it. I ended up pressing the triggers many times and messing up my combos, but the specials and supers were easy to pull off. I usually use an old Street Fighter IV Mad Catz pad. I am planning to get an arcade stick for this game, hope the online stays alive for some time, getting matches has been easy and the online has worked great, except for a match that it just froze the whole thing.

long time pad player here, the series x d-pad is probably the best d-pad i've ever used for fighting games. it has actual diagonals you can feel and it's clicky so you get the tactile feedback while you're using it.
