If they make snowboard as fun as it was in original, I don't need anything else, I've spent hours playing just that back in the day.
It was a completely skippable town though with no bearing on the actual story at all. So I bet it was a last-thought addition.

Fort Condor was the place with the giant bird on top of a mako reactor right after the giant midgar snake. Soon after you get to the overworld map. Barret's past didn't really get a focus until Coral which was closer around the Gold Saucer bit.
