FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE

What makes cloud likable?
Genuine question, he is stale to me. Hes very one dimensional, but maybe things change in the later installments?

Cloud is peak Final Fantasy main character, Squall was very much a repeat so he's also fine but a bit too mushy and retired, and then plain crash

Zidane is an insufferable Disney hero drunk-written on a napkin at the restaurant after watching the soccer world cup, but oooh wait he has a dark secret, oooh

Tidus is a Zidane repeat just a tiny fraction less insufferable

Vaan is the third attempt of that type and i guess the best of three, still just as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying

Lightning is pink haired girl Cloud, she's actually fine, it's just that everything else in this game is a dumpster fire

Stopped playing after that point

Sure there's FFVI and the characters are actually interesting but you'd have to be strucked with a terminal case of rose tinted glasses to compare FFVI's depth of character development with anything that came after
FF14 takes a massive dump on pretty much every entry other than 7 and 8 when it comes to characters and character development.

+1

XIV literally ♥♥♥♥♥ all over every single FF on the subject of characters because most people, including me, play to see our "friends" again, even if they aren't real.

That's how powerful XIV's narrative is for many.

..........but it's also a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ comparison because that game is significantly longer than all the others lol

It's longer sure but imho each of the expansions on their own can stand against the other FF games. The way they continued the same overarching plot across a rebuild and 4 expansions without it becoming ♥♥♥♥ is insane.

as an FF character he's not as famboyant as locke

Um, you sure about that? Cecil's amano design I can see in a few sure, but Locke? N. In fact Locke looks a lot more better, and is older than Cloud. Locke is not flamboyant.

Edifier eredeti hozzászólása:

But the thing is, he IS likable.

Not to everyone. Zack is likable more to me.

Lienhart eredeti hozzászólása:
Also Cloud clearly has PTSD; I've had PTSD and the way they showed it in game is extremely accurate.

But is that how every person with PTSD acts, behaves? No.

Lienhart eredeti hozzászólása:
Do you want spoilers?

He's not supposed to be likable. Neither was Squall. It's modeled, somewhat realistically, off of people with childhood trauma that never healed (they are sometimes unlikable, anti social tendencies, unsympathetic.)

Anymore info and we go into spoilers. While I personally think Squall and Cloud are cool (and Lightning could sit on my face/step on my ♥♥♥♥ any day of the week), they, realistically, would not be great friends and are not mentally stable.

Well, yes, but Squall is different, it comes down to personalities and how each character develops/grows on the player. For some Cloud is all wonders, for others, like myself, no.

And then someone new will be called the "Caucasian version of Cloud".
People will always compare when things are even the slightest similar to another character.

Read between the lines and see they are not a repeat of either or.
The same people say Terra is peak final fantasy character. You see what I mean? conflicting opinions trying to be tossed as facts on a topic such as this.
Squall and Lightning are already Caucasian Cloudlikes no?

I was thinking asian, and yeah. But more so referring to say, a western character should he bare the same similairites.
Well i mean the devs have said in interviews that starting with 8 they made the characters more Caucasian to appeal more to the West. Nomura also said that he based Squall on the late River Phoenix who was in the films Stand By Me and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.

Read between which lines ?

The Final Fantasy series' unfathomably deep subtext and rich, profound characters ?

Every MC of the series is based on a clearly identifiable archetype, with slight alterations and variations

Zidane, Tidus, Vaan

Cloud, Squall, Lightning

Terra, Aeris, Garnet

The list goes on, Zell <> Wakka for example

It's not rocket science for once, and actual facts for two, it's called narrative designs and those are extremely basic

When i'm saying Cloud is peak writing, that's still very low by general writing standards
And i'm not spitting on the FF series, it's serviceable especially when you're a teenager, but it is what it is, the Marvel movies of JRPGs (ok, slightly better but still)

We aren't talking Gainax levels of writing here

I've worked with Nojima, those aren't "factpinions,"and excuse me for a second here but... eh......

And yes, FFVI is antiquated, it's ok to have it hold a special place in your heart but claiming it's "the best" like every FF fan does to get their purist medal is just as asinine as claiming Nosferatu is the best horror movie of all time, shut the ♥♥♥♥ up it's 100 years old

They expanded on his dialog in 7R, which I thought was nice. They also made him slightly more interesting than the self-hating nihilist he was in 7. For all the liberties they're taking, if they skip that entire lifestream self-actualization bit or completely redo it, I'll be all for it.
The idea is that he start out stale, but he warms up to the characters. Although he doesn't go through nearly as much development as he does later in this trilogy (Or in the later bit of the original). He turns out to be a really incredibly complex and likable character. Hope the remake handles him well and if not, then I hope you learn about his story in the original so you can see how awesome he is

It's going to be very interesting to see how Cloud's broken persona is eventually going to be fixed. There's no guarantee whatsoever that it is going to go even close to the original version.

I don't know about you but to me it was pretty easy to see Cloud warming up to Avalanche, Aerith, and the orphans. The synergy between cast also works; it's good to have someone balance out Barret's temper and Tifa's hesitation, and nobody else in the cast is really doing that since Red joins up so late and Aerith is too mysterious and gone half the game.

Overall Remake Cloud is still a better protagonist to me than your average JRPG blokes, including original Cloud.

In this game, well nothing.

In the original game he was, and is still quite cool. But thats a generation thing.

Cloud is a badboy that woman like. That makes him likeable by others. Also, being in a organization like soldier gives him respect from people too.

At least for the remake, they made him more dynamic a character though.

I have a feeling that cloud and Zack are going to have a meetup and maybe a fight sometime where you have to fight him../

I really have a problem with this awkward japanese pathos, it kills it for me. I mean no one on this planet speaks like that. All of their behaviour is fake and forced Anime/Asian/K-pop, as if the developers where obsessed with not giving them any authenticity as human beings at all.

Its just a pain to watch :steamfacepalm:

His character development happens pretty much mid game, after events in Ancient City.
He is pretty basic in Midgar section, but even now you start seeing him getting less stiff and more open.

Exactly and as a fan and i agree at 100% with Maximillian Dood (witch i STRONGLY advertise personally you can clearly tell he cares for ff7 and well games in general)

Cloud open, to Aerith clearly slowly but you can tel SPECIALLY if as me as a fan of the original you have taken the Aerith road/way.

In the sense (meaning) that in the Remake if you have the Cloud's resolution (called in the remake on Yutube Aerith but in reality it's rather the Cloud's resolution by the fact )

If you have that like that for your first playthrough (without knowledge of yes they are two others outcome possible as well) and have ALSO the best cutscene for the Aerith's dress...
You can CLEARLY tell..and i understand Cloud. What a lovable person Aerith is and ..beauty as well.

Both sides of Tifa and Aerith help Cloud (personnality and behavior).

Remember...the churtch scene ..it begins there you can tell by the voice acting also sometimes (not always of course)

Or the flashback when Aerith joins you AGAIN in the very beginning of the Chapter 9 and..for add the music witch add to the atmosphere very special one...

If there at least there you have not this FEELING... well you miss something very important .

If you have the feeling that "weird i could have sworn that this usic was already on the original...but in fact no ?!"

Well developers had succeed what they want to feel and see/heard.

The same i have understand why they have change actress for Aerith for the Remake...

Quirky girl, cheerful one, lovable one, act a bit as a child (the way after the churtch)

All is thanks to her.

Tifa help Cloud for others things.

Ah yes ! And forget to add, think to the orpheans too one scene Cloud rescue thanks and have praise for (what he had always wante dto beign with ? being saw as a HERO)

He warms up sometimes (think to the chapter 4 when you see a glimpse of a smile...

I told all that without spoilers for obvious reasons (i have done the original in 1997) but you had to understand well WHO Clud is and why he act like that.
