Archer Promotion?
Well, there are two Archers that I've had since the start of the game, both of which managed to serve me well for the most part. But now they've come to the point of fizzling out by chapter 3. They simply lack the Penetration required to bypass most of the enemy's armor, and now it seems the martials and spell casters are far more effective in battle.

I'm considering finally changing their classes to something else, but I don't know what to make them. I am considering Dragoon for their ability to automatically buff the party against Beasts and Dragons, but I've also heard that Ninjas with bows are pretty mobile, which is something you would need in a long ranged fighter.

Oh, I should also mention the current level cap is 22, and they've been pure archers all the way through. Not sure if that will factor into their stats with a late game change at this point?

Make them debuffer. Archer 100% accuracy buff make your ally ranged attack debuff have 100% chance to land. Give them the bow that have silence on hit now they can shutdown any enemy mage.
Ninja good with that same silence bow. But their debuff chance not that big so you need another one as archer. In that way you can use ninja skill with poison numb, or stun numb so you can land 2 debuff per hit.

They can shut down mage, cleric make fight easier.

Don't forget.. there is resist skill -- like resist silence. Cleric even have skill to auto remove all ailment on self (learn at level 25) so check enemies before go into battle.

Not just Ninja, there are others who can use bow (Warrior, Rune fencer and Beast tamer) as well. Rune fencer can use ranged magic to supplement bow, Beast tamer can support his/her monster minion (aka meat shield -- most of them have throwing boulder attack so they can come in handy as mobile arty) from back etc.

good evening,

im in the same pickle as well, i want to graduate my archers to another class but keep their weapon(bow) attached to them, they are too basic and are lagging behind.

Im seeing Ninja, are there any other good bow wielding classes? a bit of me is allright with replacing one of said archers(keeping favorite wing boi)

would any one recommend a humanoid archer(monster)?

Thank you for your time and have a good day.

According to the wiki, Ninjas only use one handed bows. Which is fine, as the Baldur Bow I currently have them equipped with is 1 handed.

The reason why I considered Dragoon, is because they are consistently doing around 200 or so damage to Beast and Dragon units, and they have an auto skill which applies a similar buff to any allies within a certain radius. I figure having 2 or 3 Dragoons in the party would make fighting against such threats much simpler.

Although I looked at the wiki and Dragoons only use crossbows. Which as far as I can tell, inflict more damage than Bows, but don't arc their shots.

I've already got 2 Beastmasters. One using a whip, and the other using a blowgun.

I was previously using the petrification blowgun, but realized it wasn't as useful as it seemed. So I replaced it with the poison one.

The petrification blowgun had the ability to stun lock the enemy, but it massively ramped up their defense while they were turned to stone.

wingman, the reason is that they can easily get to a good position.

Archers are probably the best non-monster class to harass and take down squishy units, so don't dismiss them completely. Longbows have insane range. If i would replace mine, i'd go for a Canopus clone. Varans with crossbow and 1h melee + great mobility are pure beasts.

I have not yet replaced Canopus' starting short bow, save for upgrading it to +1. He seems to be doing quite well with it. For his melee weapon, I've been giving him 1H axes.

I'd say with how forgiving this game is on skillups, you could change them into pretty much anything you need role-wise. Just a few ai training sessions should catch them up on whatever weapon skills, and the stat growth class bias seems tiny if it exists at all. Dragoons are always fun because they can function as tanky archers, but honestly I'd say get a terror knight if you don't already have one. The fear debuff is busted (removes atk and armor), and they can both dish out and take a good deal of punishment.

Crossbows are the penetration weapon for Archers, so no, they don't lack penetration. Also, you may not have noticed, but melee take reduced ranged-physical damage now, so archers are really meant to focus on the backline. Crossbows with phys/crit cards oneshot casters through the end of the game.

Denam has been a Terror Knight ever since I chose the Lawful route. Going to eventually make him a Lord, but he's doing fine as he is right now.
