Install size makes me laugh :D
I am not complaining, I am not belittling, I am just saying that an install size of 15gb for a game that existed well before 'gigabyte' was even a part of our everyday language let alone a technical possibility, makes me laugh. I get it, it has new code, probably nice big fat music and voice files, etc, but It just makes me smile.

Does anyone know the total size of the original SNES game? Google says SNES games were anywhere from 230k to 4mb lol

gigabytes do not make content my friend.

Data efficiency is a thing of the past. It's kind of sad.

Interestingly, the vast bulk of the file size (over 6gb) is taken up by the movie files (different files for different languages too).

Yea, as someone who did a stint in college for developing games and simulations. I have to agree with Thew. Essentially we are in an era where all games are built with bloated game engines, in which the company puts no effort into cleaning up after.

I agree. I hate the over-insistence of games needing to be voice-acted nowadays. It is very limiting to creativity and content development in games.

Also to add, from memory, a game that's exceeded 50gig has never topped some of my favorite games under 2 gig...

It is totally irrelivent.

Graphics and voices do not make a game but the gameplay alone

Don't expect a big company like SE to keep their old quality standard after seeing the CEO promoting NFT.

i'm enjoying the voice work they added, so i'll gladly download the extra gigs for it.

They can make a great game better though. It's all relative and dependent on the quality of the project if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Wrong...

Good graphics can even be a put off for people, personally i prefer 2d games than realistic 3d ones.

It's a matter of taste.

My favorite games all 2d, Uo, Diablo, Path of Exile, Civilization, Terraria, Bindining of isaac etc. the list goes on.

We're talking about multi-locale videos and voice work here though for the size not graphics... don't move the goalposts..

(as an aside, Blizz did an excellent job on D2:R)

Except most of those you mentioned are not 2D. Diablo 3+ are 3D, PoE is 3D, Civ 4+ are 3D... Just because you have fixed camera angle, doesnt mean the game is 2D...
