Class stat growth
Does it matter when levelling your characters what class they are at the time they gain a level? I really dislike the idea of having to plan out "right, I need to level x for y levels... *Few days later without playing* Oh ♥♥♥♥ I over levelled them in that one class because I forgot my overall plan for them".

Or is it more like they have an overall base line stat for each class but with some minor stat differences. Like a level 20 warrior levelled from 1 to 20 would have similar stats to a wizard that was levelled 1 to 20 if I was to switch that warrior I just levelled to a wizard.

I'm also not talking about that new party level limit either.

Also, another question as I’m on the switch, training battles don’t give any goth, so without doing the story is there a way of getting more?

I have trouble with explaining my thoughts, so I hope my gibberish makes sense.

I think the short answer is that some stats will skew if you level as a certain class, but it's not going to make or break a character like it did in the PSX version. There are also ways to make up for it through consumable items you pick up, though I heard that they're a bit rarer (but not SUPER rare).
If the game works like I wish it does, you'll get a couple bonus points here or there, but the bulk of your stats will be just your character's level multiplied by a base rate for that class. This would be a mix of the PSX and PSP, though leaning more towards the PSP version.

That's interesting, I'm glad I'm not gonna ♥♥♥♥ something up like in FFT where you're not 100% ruined, but you're making it far harder on yourself if you didn't level plan.

I agree, I think this system would solve a lot of issues for most people, you still get some randomness but at the same time you haven't just negated a chunk of play time for a gimped character.

Units in this game are very replaceable. They can quickly and easily be replaced just by recruiting a random enemy. In addition, there are stat boosting cards, and probably food too which can permanently boost your stats (no confirmation there yet).

As for getting goth outside main story. Once you reach chapter 2 you will have your solution. Chapter 1 provides you PLENTY of Goth, so don't worry about money issues until then.

I guess that's true for generic units, but I was also thinking about the special/ unique units as well.

*Heavy sweating as I'm down to 23,000 goth and have a shopping addiction* Jokes aside, I'm glad there's a option once you hit chapter 2.

Only thing matter is your base stat. The class stat automatically allocated when you change class.

Aw ♥♥♥♥ yeah, that's the clear cut answer I was hoping to hear. Thank you kind soul~ :praisesun:

That being said, thank you three for your answers. :D Pity I can't list all three as the answer to the post though. :/

Follow up from me: on 1 level up on generic unit, all stat +2 with some of them sometimes +3. Even if the class different the final stat wont be much differ, even on same class too the +3 randomly pop. So what really matter in the end just the starting stat *base when recruiting*. If you want to raise them easiest way is using charm.

Now that's also interesting and I like that system as well, that way it's not static, my biggest fear was having to level plan for the special/ unique units more than the generic ones, but I do like generics a lot.

I have been wondering how much class effects character stat growth, if at all. Like in PSX version, if I level Denam as a Ninja for 10 - 15 levels, will he have more agility than he would have leveling as a Knight, but less HP and Vitality? I wonder.

I made a thread about this, but it's probably been buried by now but

So, I won't be ruining my characters if I suddenly switch them to a completely different job late in the game?

Like, if I decide to change a Wizard to a Berserker?

you wont but the berserker still have wizard base stats. But... there is nothing stats food/charm can't fix.

still.... skill level, example staff to melee weapon, you have to train from rank 1 skill

You will in a way. You can fix it with auctioning off monsters later and eating the entire world away, but that's incredibly annoying and time consuming. Comparing just level 20 stats of a Berserker and Wizard, the Berserker has about 175 more HP than the Wizard leveled character, so he has roughly 20% more HP.

That's a pretty significant difference. You can fix it, sure, but it's far better to just keep the character in the same type of class so you don't have that discrepancy to fix later on.
