Fusiliers = Major Disappointment?
I was considering 'upgrading' one or more of my archers into Fusiliers after unlocking the class. But according to the wiki I just checked, they are evidently one of the worst classes in the game. Not only are there a whopping total of 3 guns, but they have abysmally low stat growths, AND changing to the class is permanent?

Then again, some classes in the game have been tweaked or rebalanced since the PSP version, so can anybody else confirm for me if this will be a worthwhile change for my units, before I make a mistake?

I think the guide you were looking at was probably for the SNES/PSX edition.
There are a few more guns that were introduced in the PSP version, and I'd imagine they made their way into this one as well.

That said, guns work a bit different from bows and crossbows.
Bows focus on stats to do high damage to low defense targets. Bows will have higher stats but lower "penetration" (the number shown as attack value).
Crossbows don't have quite as good stats, but have higher penetration. This is why they're not quite as high damage against low armor targets, but can punch into tankier units.
Guns take this further. They do somewhat okay damage to all targets, but don't expect to be 1-shotting anything from across the map.

From what I understand guns are awesome in this version you give one to your hawkguy you start with and he'll tear through enemies.

Reborn addresses previous class imbalance issues, to the best of the developers' abilities. In previous versions, fusiliers were unimpressive and ninjas were stupidly overpowered. Now I expect that both classes are at about the same level.

been using Lindl while i'm doing the elemental temples, been doing pretty solid damage with the basic rifle from the Fusil book. the fact they get Engulf (+3 range) means they CAN snipe something from across the map, just use course correction when you need to be able to hit something regardless of allies or obstacles.
