Character Creation throws me off

I know, i haven't really played more then a few minutes of this game but this is genuinely a topic that makes me consider refunding.
So i went to start up the game, get into the character creator and immediatly realize there is no option for gender. Yes i know some people prefer it this way but not even being able to pick a body type with boobs or not feels more like the creation is lacking in options then "giving you the freedom to make whatever you want". Like i said i haven't played any of the actual game yet but from what i presume this is gonna be partially an RPG experience, so i expect there to be stuff like loot drops by the likes of armor and other clothing with better stats. I don't really wanna make a character along the lines of a cat girl or reptile dude and then end up getting clothing with better stats that changes that appearance. And from what i've seen you very clearly have npcs with distinct genders so why am i as the player not allowed to pick? Again atleast more bodytype options would be nice as the character creator feels very lacking right now. Honestly was surprised in hindsight that there is no workshop support for this kinda stuff given that you get a bunch of options but then actually clicking on them reveals that there is only 1 set thing that can't be changed. Same with other options for the different races likes lizards snouts etc. I know this seems like a silly reason for considiring a refund but i enjoy being able to customize my characters in rpg's and this character creator just seems like its severly lacking. Does anyone know if there's some mod out there to fix and add more options at the very least?

I actually agree with this. At first i thought "Oh that's cool, they're playing it safe" by not incorporating gender choices. But as you say, after a while of playing i quickly realised - Damn, why can't i have boobs?

All for the idea, but i think we need to at least be able to choose between Male, Female or no gender at all.

Well the game itself is fun but the character creation is bad. I do not like the "there are no fix genders" aproach. I want a clear male/female/something else classification and the apropriate custimisation options. The lack of costumisation makes me feel somewhat shallow playing a babyface guy that does not feel like a man at all. And without a propper way to make a real woman that is not inclusive but sadly just bad. I hope the devs will improve upon this in the future.

@NyXinGale exactly. It's one thing if the devs make a set character with ambitious gender like frisk from undertale. But when i as the player get to create the character i'm playing then i prefer being given more options for my outer appearance rather then having to "make the most of what i'm given" if that makes sense.

Each to there own but turning down a game with this much quality content because of a lack of gender options makes me wonder why you play games. Not trying to start an argument about gender politics and I think if you could have this game with all the options you want then that would be cool but its such a good game in this genre that such a small negative should not put a person off playing it. You would be losing out for such a trivial issue.

None of the character sprites in the game have breasts because they are chibi and pixelated, breasts are implied through you clothing (or not), but this is not limited to the player character, its for all characters, its a limitation of the visual style not a design choice. There are visual slots for clothing as well so you can look however you want an still have the best armors on. Picking a gender would be redundant since the sprites bodies all look the same regardless and clothing options are not gender locked.

Yeah, that 'ambitious gender' gets me every time.

I'm not saying this is good or ideal, but you can choose gender by picking hairstyle and clothes. Like if you want to make a female you pick one of the hairstyles on the bottom row and you make her wear a dress.

This is a total non-issue. I didn't even notice the lack of breasts until I saw this thread, and I'm nearly 60 hours into the game. It doesn't matter at all.

It may be the least important thing to some of you but like i said i like having wide customization options. Again this does not just come down to gender/bodytype tho its a big part of it but also other options that are very limited. It is kinda ridiculous to be able to click on certain body options and only be given 1 set thing that can't be changed. And even the 10 Hairstyles of which half are sorta masculine and the other half being more feminine is kind of a low amount for this type of game. It makes me wonder wether there wasn't more planned during development but just not expended upon. Hence why i was wondering why there is no workshop support and wether there isn't a mod to fix these issues (since i couldnt find anything on Nexusmods). But instead people seem to prefer to leave driveby posts and call it a day. Thanks, great community on here, i can allready tell.

The body type limitations doesn't particularly bother me, though it does seem strange that we aren't allowed a he/she/they choice of pronouns. Granted, I'm not a programmer but it doesn't seem like something that would be terribly difficult to incorporate to give the players some comfort of choice.

For what it's worth though, the game has "cosmetic armor" options. Meaning there's slots next to your actual armor where you can put clothing that you would like layered over the "real" armor that is then hidden. You can also just hide armor, which I do for the headpieces 'cause I like to see the hairstyle I picked on my character.
