I need help with a spell

So I had managed to level up at put skill points into 'Ethereal Axe', but the problem is that I haven't been able to equip it (it should've instantly as it is my second spell I should've gotten) and searching up the problem brings the '2 purple circles' which I right clicked on my spell, and there's no option other than the 'fire ball', is this a bug or something else like a required weapon or such?

Well when you learn a spell a spell slot is added above your hotbar. You click on it and a dropdown menu appears with all the spells and you click on one you know to add it to that slot. Each slot has a key on the keyboard that goes with that slot. You press the key to cast the spell.

Or that's how it's supposed to work. If that isn't working for you there might be a different issue.

I managed to find out the problem, apparently doing it while in your inventory/menu is different compared to doing it while the game's not in it, thank you for the help though
