Is there any other way to raise the heart-level of animals outside of awkwardly standing next to them and raising the hand angrily for 400 times?

If I remember right the bottom right skill in the farming tree makes your animals always happy. I might be remembering wrong though.

it does...at least per text
but the hearts are not maxed out by it (at least from the animals on the farm, have not tried yet with new animals)

I found getting rid of the automatic feeders and feeding them each day by hand and petting them raised their hearts faster. They really seem to like the hand feeding.

Yes, manual feeding increases happiness. Not much better than petting them for the whole day imo.

I really hope they fix this because it's irritating. How the hell am I supposed to raise their happiness when I own about 13 different animals, all of which take a full minute of petting to get a single pixel of their happiness back... I figured feeding them automatically kept it up slightly. Appearently I'm wrong, and petting is the only way. This is kinda BS, I'm not gonna spend 3 ingame days petting them...

honestly you can do it this way, remove your automatic collector, keep the feeder, every morning just hit your animals, go press E on them to pet them but what gets you the heart, is you harvesting their animal product by hand, once their heart is full or yellow you can stop bothering and add your automatic collector back in

it doesnt take that long to pet your animals at the start of each day, especially when playing on 40 minute days its like, no precious time lost. If you dont like walking over there, getting a mount or air skip skill or move speed bonuses will help that a little and make it more fun
