Star Path getting too hard?
Just wondering if there are other players that feel like this Star Path duties are too hard/an absolute grind? As someone who has been playing the game for over two years now, I think the Star Path, at first, was way too easy. I could complete it in a few days. The did start to ramp it up recently, but this release I feel like it's just been an absolute grind and the duties are just a little "too hard." By that I mean, there are some duties that are taking me almost a week to complete (and I do play VERY often, at least a few hours every day).

I'm sure the developers are trying to find a good balance, but if they are reading this, I think that you need to dial the Star Path difficulty back just a little. For how long the Star Path runs and the fact that there are some times that I get drawn multiple duties that will take at minimum 3 days to complete, I feel like I won't have the time to complete them by the time the event ends.

I will also acknowledge that I know the bonus rewards were introduced this update but I think I would rather have less hard tasks than more rewards.

Just all my opinion, not sure what anyone else thinks...

The major annoyance is the RNG heavy tasks, blue fishing circles and specific rare gems. The tasks have had the numbers lowered so this one was better than some others, the extra tasks are long but not particularly brutal.

I wish they'd allow us to skip StarPath tasks, so if we deem an activity distasteful, we just just yeet that task off the schedule and allow a new task to be added instead.

That would be super helpful. I'm a new player and the star path duties that I have left are not things I can do yet.

IMO, this is 1000% on us! Why on earth would someone look at a "task" (in a COZY game!) that they give you upwards of two months to complete, to then complete it as fast as you can & proceed to be mad cuz you have nothing to do?? YES, this last one was extra grindy. However, I really felt a sense of accomplishment when I finished it! I took my time and still had a month to go. Prior to every Starpath a million excited posts about how they can't wait. After every Starpath, a million "vent" posts cuz they're bored after finishing in a week! ** Every Single Starpath ** til this one; I'm almost glad for the complaint change! I'm def not always a fan of GL but seems like they're doing the best they can for this one (don't even get me started about the random warnings lately grrrrr)

Yeah, I mostly found it more "long and annoying" than "hard". And the most annoying RNG tasks (blue circle fishing & shiny gems) aren't really a new thing - they've been annoying us for quite a few Star Paths.

Don't remember how long this one took me, but it was under two weeks. But that's as a long-time player who had plenty of stuff stored up to use.
Usually I finish them within like 4 days, this last one with the current bonus section took me about 2 weeks of non stop grinding, until I was forced to stop by things could not complete until the next day.

I could see noobs being very upset and not finishing them but after they start hording potions and dreamlight it's not so bad.

When I suggested we should maybe received multi colored content did not have that in mind, was thinking it would be nice to earn at the same time the different colors. :)

I always race through the Star Path as fast as I can. But that's my choice.

People are complaining constantly about the Star Path being too easy, as if it's meant to be some kind of twisted puzzle game.

If I want twisted puzzle games, I want them in the main game, not in monthly grind quests.
Op should have titled "Star Path getting un-fun?" That is the crux of the matter. Grinding out stuff is kind of expected. Having those duties time gated and RNG gated- once you reach a breaking point- is not fun. And the last one was not fun- if felt like unpaid intern work.

I would not mind if the duties were difficult to achieve, if there was kind of clever or interesting dynamic to it. But they keep them stupid simple because (reasons). They just are realistically outside the player's control entirely. You just fish and hope or accept it is going to take a few days to serve 15 diners in the one restaurant available for it. That really isn't fun unless there was something about it that made it fun. Maybe some special treat or a little cut scene.

I pretty much ignore the game anymore in any case. I came back for the Rift season...when it finally went on sale. The content we get is just not very interesting so I may not be back ever now.
I actually am not sure if I have enough time to finish this one. I think I am getting closer to the end and in the bonus page, and boom, everything is like 100 or 50 moonstones and all the quests I am getting now is time gated or insanely long.

The fishing task comes to mind.
And that can not be improved with potions, not when blue ripples are demanded.
Took me 2 days to complete that one, because overfishing the ripples caused them to stop appearing and very few of them were blue.

There are two restaurants eligible for that task, Tiana’s also qualifies.
But on some occassions, there was nobody in there, so that task slowed as well.

The restaurant ones can be easy or hard, depending on what times you can play the game. Around specific mealtimes (esp, lunch and dinner), the restaurants are packed. Outside those times, there can be as few as 1-2 people in them. So someone who can't play at the right times, those tasks are *much* longer.

But yeah, the bonus tasks definitely started feeling "un-fun", especially with repetition.
"Get 10 memories" /sigh
"Get 10 more memories" /grumble
"Get *15 more* memories" oh, ffs

edit: this old thread has details on the bonus tasks, if anyone's still working on them and wants to know what to expect. . .

Oh yeah, I quit playing the game altogether over the holidays. I realized I'd have to spend all my extra time making sure I logged in to do the 20 mins of "once a day" activities instead of enjoying the holidays. Forget it. I think I stopped at the "give a ton of gifts to Toy Story" folks because it was going to take a week alone. I really wanted the house design in the recolored extra tasks, but not that much to miss real life things. I'm actually only looking at the threads here because I was wondering when the next event starts, so I can consider playing again to spend down my moonstones.

That actually turned out to be one of the easier tasks. Buzz & Woody is 6 possible gifts. So while "15" sounds like a lot at first, it's only 2.5 days. /shrug

edit: really, the "difficulty" of many tasks varies widely depending on if you're a new-ish player or if you're an old player who has piles of stuff stored in boxes. If you don't have to gather/harvest for them, they're pretty trivial. If you have to get all the junk, they're really awful.

The most annoying one I have seen so far is getting 5k dreamlight. That is like the doing 15 dreamlight duties, but its actually like 30-40 of them. That is a ton of duties. They are not hard, but come on, that is a ton. And it is one of the later tasks too. If it was earlier on you can sort of ignore it and get it as you go but for this you have to grind like crazy.

If you have extra dreamshards saved up, there's a crafting recipe to turn them straight into dreamlight. But again, that's another "it's easy for people who've got piles of stuff stored away" thing. :P
