I also could not resist.
To be serious, what I find inconceivable is after all this time, there are still those holding out for the game to be free,
They didn't pay enough for the microtransactions to justify the expense of that game and therefore, Gameloft realized a free2play PC/Console game is not financially viable.
Basically, Gameloft could not afford to support this game if it was free2play, so we would not have it at all if they had kept that plan.
Honestly, I am confused, every game has a price tag and the games are all around $100 for Deluxe Editions, so why should Dreamlight Valley be different?
I am very low income and I was able to put away the money to buy the base game twice, plus 2 expansions.
I can not concieve of someone who lacks the funds to do this, if you want a game strongly enough, you find a way to save the money.
FYI, Disney has nothing to do with the management of this game, other then approving/denying content requests. They gave Gameloft a license to use their characters/properties and let them manage the production.
However, the game is much more grind intensive and half the Villagers are behind a Lootbox paywall.
Therefore you'll be happier playing Dreamlight Valley.
This is my own personal experience, since I play both games.
