In game purchases?
Does this ruin the game? like it is buying loot boxes and the crap these big biz corporate games always try and pull?

So sad to hear, was gonna play with my wife! (yes i know its singleplayer)

Not at all. It's all cosmetics such as outfits, furniture, house designs and then the Star Path which usually has a companion, some motifs and other stuff too. You also can earn 50 per day just by opening a chest in valley so even if takes a while, it's possible to get stuff free eventually. It was quite bad looking at the begging but currently they are repeating the old stuff so has brought the average per week down even if are rich enough to buy everything but there's 0 pay to win or real content locks. However it can sucks if see some furniture love for a design it's not at all like most games. Just check youtube and look at the star path and some of the premium shops to see what it is.

Basically: No. it has 0 impact on actual gameplay and you can earn free moonstones so even if takes time if see something REALLY want even if not willing to chip in a few quid here and there to support the ongoing support, the only legit complaint is that some things cost to much for what is just it's not at all an issue nor should it stop anyone having fun

The only ingame purchases are moonstones, used primarily to activate the Premium track of the Star Path.

At the moment, the game is soloplayer, but multiplayer will be added later.
No more details are known about how they will implement multiplayer.

The ingame purchases are moonstones (currency) to buy some premium cosmetic items or speed up your completion of each starpath. Unless collecting EVERYTHING is your one true passion, you will be able to easily avoid making purchases. So far, have not seen anything in the store I could not live without.

Fortunately, the general play of the game is not behind a pay to play situation. They have given more then adequate time to complete each StarPath. The only benefit to buying quick access to items is if you want to show off your StarPath prizes early- with photos or when they give us multiplayer.

So, it could be expensive for players who HAVE to have it all and MUST be the first to show off a new outfit or piece of furniture. If you can wait and are not easily swayed to buy Real MONEY expensive cosmetics in the heat of the moment, you will have no trouble.

I think you can still enjoy the game without in-game purchases tbh

It's single player now but they have mentioned they're going to make it multiplayer sometime in the future. Not exactly sure how but you and your wife will eventually be able to visit one another in game eventually.

It actually is. When they released their early access road map, I was very disappointed to see no new game features on it. It was just:

January: New villagers and an event!
April: New villagers and an event!
Summer: New villagers and an event!

If you've played this game for more than 100 hours (as I have), then you've pretty much seen everything this game has to offer. Edit: So what I mean is this is supposed to be a "forever" game, and while 100 hours is a lot, it's far from "forever". The only thing to do between events is collect a blue chest ever day. That's it. There's nothing new coming that you can do daily.

This game is supposed to be a life sim, but it lacks even the most basic of features that almost every life sim has. There's hardly any furniture interactions, things just "pop out" when you do a task (i.e. your character just throws the fruit on the floor instead of putting it into their pack), talking to the villagers is the same conversation every single day and it doesn't even matter how you respond, the placement limit prevents any kind of custom decorating...

I just looked at the upcoming patch notes and they are adding in amusement rides. I'm willing to bet they are just repackaging their assets from their other Disney game (again). I doubt you'll even be able to interact with them and they are just decoration.
