Level 2 Hourglass Unable to Find Level 1 Ancient Core

Is this another glitch? I can't progress because I leveled up my hourglass and now I'm required to find a level 1 ancient core. As far as I can tell, the level 2 Hourglass can only find level 2 ancient cores

What if we could take that proposal a bit further?

One of the devices I learned to craft was an electric power cell.
So what if we could combine 2 electric power cells into one L1 core?

Yah I have a ton of level 1 and 3 cores RNG is killing me not giving me the level 2 cores
2 tips:
1. Always take a timebending friend with you so you get a lot of duplicates and hope for double cores when they do pop.
2. I find I get more cores than usual in those white orb circles - however even if you have a timebender friend they never duplicate.

Yeah I've seen people getting buddy bonuses from the orb circles, but it's never happened for me... kind of weird.

Going to try these things and see if it helps. I need to get a level 1 core so I can upgrade my pickaxe as one of the large copper rocks spawn in front of the suncore waterfall area and I can't get past it to do the quest. *sigh*
