The only new mechanic they added is dependent on the DLC, the Hourglass tool.

guess your own message makes no sense : "no new mechanics added" "now with multiplayer added", they're also giving jack skellington for free and they've announced "hundreds of QoL / Bugfixes" as an update, it's very common for people to increase the price of the games they release.

Your theory that they HAVE to add a bunch of new content and improve graphics is just your theory. I am not sure a developer is required to do much of anything other then hopefully close up any bugs (as they define them). They are going to add some kind of multiplayer.

They have established a plan for the next year, added a new story line that covers the year (via DLC) and promised some more starpaths. Existing owners will need to decide if and when they purchase the new DLC.

I plan to sit on the bench and see if the price drops on the DLC- assuming it gets good reviews from people who do buy it. I got my $30 of entertainment out of the game in EA, but not feeling like spending another $30 for additional content currently. It is just not that good of a game IMO. I had hoped they would use the store pay model so others could finance improvements for me in the game...but that is off the table now.

Since the question is, what will they add that is a new game mechanic, there are only 2 answers at this time.
1. Hourglass Staff (Royal Tool from Eternity Isle DLC).
2. Valley Teleporter (for friends to visit your Valley).

Anything else, we will have to wait and see what else they add that is not already part of the game experience.

If you get the (basic) Founder's Pack now, what happens when the game leaves EA? Are there any "rewards" (exclusives, gift items, etc) for being an early adopter?

gonna add in the devs have been pretty good about keeping things secret till the day of release, unlike sims where the next update or dlc gets leaked in full months ahead, dreamlight valley doesn't really give us much till the day of the next update, maybe hints here and there but no real info. so if there are new anything we wouldn't know.

yes, every person with any founder's pack, even the cheapest, is getting the items from the gold pack for free. this means the new pet, the house, and the outfits.
