Festive Fish Returning?

I missed the festive fish last year, and I'm a bit of a completionist, with only those preventing me from 100%ing the fish.

Does anyone know if the festive fish are returning for Christmas? And if so, when?

I read online that the devs said they would appear every Dec 25th. So only for one day I guess.

I was just wondering the same, somehow managed to miss out on catching them last year. I guess we'll wait and see on the 25th!

Looks like festive fish are active now! you will know where to catch them when you see a green/red flashing fishing circle instead of the usual white/blue/orange.

Depends on your Timezone, mine were spawning last night.
Remeber you can only fish one per day :)

I just caught 3 of them in the same day- so I believe it varies, or it spawns one per day

Yup, it seems like one batch of nodes can spawn per day with the daily reset, might be random in how many of them there are each day, today I caught 4 of the 5 festive fish types, with 4 nodes being up in total, but didn't see any respawn today, even when checking 5 hours later.

Festive Fugu only appears during a thunderstorm (not a rainstorm) on Dazzle Beach.
Learned that one the difficult way.

Hooray! I was able to get all of my festive fish and I've finished off all of the holiday duties except for the gift giving one (gathering paper now!) :)

Does bait help with catching festive fish? I keep seeing mixed reports on blog sites, so I was hoping someone who played last year actually knew. I, too, have all but one - that stupid angler fish just won't spawn for me.

So it seems these are only intended to collect one of each to complete the duty, today I only had one node respawn for the one fish type I was missing, and none of the others, I will know for sure if this is the case tomorrow, in my earlier post I was under the impression these were something you could catch on a daily basis, but it seems I may have been wrong.

Based on my experience, you need the thunder to clap and the lightning to strike.

Because I spent 2 seperate rainy sessions seeking the Festive Fugu and was never there.
But the moment the thunder clapped, by chance, I was looking directly at the spot where the Festive Fugu appeared and this only happened when the thunderstorm started.
