If you are early in the game, then there can be things in the star path you can't complete. However there is plenty of time to catch up and still do the star path. You can get a ton of friendship with people if you just give them their three daily gifts each day, or have them follow you around while you do stuff. So you can power through any needed characters to catch up if needed.
You have 40+ days to do everything so there is a lot of time. You do need to finish everything to unlock everything(or you can spend a few extra moonstones to just unlock stuff faster). Since you do get a good amount of free moonstones if you are active in the game, I wouldn't stress too much about it.
The star path is by far the best deal of anything. I would suggest using the free moonstones you get from the daily chest or dreamsnaps and always do the starpath. You can basically do all of them forever without paying anything. The premium shop is just extra and I wouldn't worry too much about. If you have extra free moonstones/money get stuff you like and if not don't bother. You don't really need any of those items. The shop items rotate so you can get stuff you missed before.
If you just do star paths and buy the occasional shop items, you don't need to spend any money on the game if you are active.
What would you say is the time commitment to completing all tasks in a Star Path? And you have to complete all tasks within those 40 days, correct?
I hoarded Dreamlight and did a lot of collecting and daily tasks instead of the quests early on, so I actually just unlocked all biomes except the frozen one, and just got enough to unlock that one too. Is it more important for Star Path tasks to have biomes unlocked, or characters? Wasn't sure which to focus on first.
But again, yeah I don't want to rush the game and rush through unlocking characters just to participate in the Star Paths, but also don't want to lose out on the Star Path items. So a bit of a conundrum.
Usually when you need something for the star path, it is just having a specific character unlocked. So you want each of the biomes unlocked. Some characters might require getting a different character first, but I don't think any require you to max them out to get someone else. You might need to get through the first few levels though, but you have over a month to do that, so it isn't that hard.
For me, it's more exciting to do that and then introduce new characters slowly, keeps it fresh. But, I guess I will change tactics and focus on unlocking everyone asap. Then, I can just ignore them until I'm ready, but at least they will be there in case I need them for Paths. I assume the friendship quests don't expire? So I can focus on the main story then, unlock as much as I can, and go back to the friendships later.
2. The Star Path is a limited time event, the rewards are only available for the 2 months the event is active.
3. You are just buying the potential to unlock them, you still have to do the tasks allocated to recieve the prize rewards.
4. If/when the Star Path requests a locked character, then you will be unable to perform the task specified. I speak from experience, last time, half the Star Path tasks were disabled for me due to this reason.
5. I think the only thing worth paying for is the Star Path, all other purchases can be disregarded unless they are really wanted.
FYI, some of the main story missions require a specific Friendship level.
When you get to the final main mission, you need at least 4 specified characters at Friendship 10.
Moana is the only one I can remember who needs that level.
