A Few Questions from a New Player (Star Paths and Progression)
Hi all,

I got this a few days ago, and have already played a ton. Really enjoying it. Googled around for lots of info and have watched many YouTube videos as well. But have a few more questions.

1) I know you buy Star Paths with Moonstones, but do they also have free content with each Star Path? Meaning, do they have something for everyone, just to get all rewards you need to buy the premium version of the star path?

2) I know the Star Paths are only offered for a limited amount of time. But, say I purchase one with Moonstones, but am still early game. Have many characters not unlocked yet, etc. Can I buy the path, and then just save doing the quests and other things until I'm ready? Or, even if I buy it, I need to complete it within the time frame it's offered? (The quests, challenges, etc)?

3) If I buy the path, do I get all the rewards, or I'm just buying the potential to unlock them? Meaning, I buy the path, but still have to complete each page?

4) If I'm early game and the Star Path requires certain characters, for example the Belle one show Wall-E, whom I haven't unlocked it, will I be wasting my money to buy it if I don't have it all unlocked yet? I want to get it, but I also don't like feeling pressured to rush and unlock things for the Star Path; I want to play and unlock everything at my own pace.

5) I'm trying to understand how much money they want people to spend here. So, looks like Star paths are offered every couple of months. Then there are item packs that are like $5 worth of Moonstones every 7 or 8 days? And additionally, "stuff" packs like the current Wall-E ones that are equivalent to something like $20, that have a few quests, a few items, etc? And those come out every month or every so often? Not sure if I'm missing anything, but that seems like way too much to spend on the daily and a lot to keep up with. Am I missing anything?

Thank you for the help!

There is a free version of the star path, but I would just buy it if you think you can finish it. You get moonstones reward in the path so if you finish it, it ends up costing like 800 moonstones or something. If you do the dreamsnaps events each week it gives you a minimum of 350 moonstones, and you can also get 50 moonstones everyday if you find the blue chest that spawns daily. So you can basically do the star path with the moonstones you make in game within 2-3 weeks, and they run 40 days with like 2 months between them. So plenty of time.

If you are early in the game, then there can be things in the star path you can't complete. However there is plenty of time to catch up and still do the star path. You can get a ton of friendship with people if you just give them their three daily gifts each day, or have them follow you around while you do stuff. So you can power through any needed characters to catch up if needed.

You have 40+ days to do everything so there is a lot of time. You do need to finish everything to unlock everything(or you can spend a few extra moonstones to just unlock stuff faster). Since you do get a good amount of free moonstones if you are active in the game, I wouldn't stress too much about it.

The star path is by far the best deal of anything. I would suggest using the free moonstones you get from the daily chest or dreamsnaps and always do the starpath. You can basically do all of them forever without paying anything. The premium shop is just extra and I wouldn't worry too much about. If you have extra free moonstones/money get stuff you like and if not don't bother. You don't really need any of those items. The shop items rotate so you can get stuff you missed before.

If you just do star paths and buy the occasional shop items, you don't need to spend any money on the game if you are active.

Thanks, appreciate the helpful reply! I just unlocked dreamsnaps and got enough purple items with 3 hours to spare, so was able to participate in the latest one.

What would you say is the time commitment to completing all tasks in a Star Path? And you have to complete all tasks within those 40 days, correct?

I hoarded Dreamlight and did a lot of collecting and daily tasks instead of the quests early on, so I actually just unlocked all biomes except the frozen one, and just got enough to unlock that one too. Is it more important for Star Path tasks to have biomes unlocked, or characters? Wasn't sure which to focus on first.

But again, yeah I don't want to rush the game and rush through unlocking characters just to participate in the Star Paths, but also don't want to lose out on the Star Path items. So a bit of a conundrum.

I think you always have at least 40 days to do it, and some of them were even longer that. I usually finish with like an entire month worth of time left over. Just an estimate, I would say it takes about 6 hours, and if you do like 10 minutes a day you will finish the entire thing easily.

Usually when you need something for the star path, it is just having a specific character unlocked. So you want each of the biomes unlocked. Some characters might require getting a different character first, but I don't think any require you to max them out to get someone else. You might need to get through the first few levels though, but you have over a month to do that, so it isn't that hard.

This is helpful to know, thank you. I would have preferred taking my time, and focusing on one character at a time. I've been leveling each to 10, then doing all of their quests until they lock because they need something else to continue.

For me, it's more exciting to do that and then introduce new characters slowly, keeps it fresh. But, I guess I will change tactics and focus on unlocking everyone asap. Then, I can just ignore them until I'm ready, but at least they will be there in case I need them for Paths. I assume the friendship quests don't expire? So I can focus on the main story then, unlock as much as I can, and go back to the friendships later.

Yeah, there is no time limits on anything in the game. A lot of quests don't unlock until you reach a certain level with multiple characters, so if you level everyone to 10 one at a time, you won't be able to finish most of their quests anyway.

Right, I was leveling them one by one since I was gardening a lot anyway. Then I figured I could do the other requirements when I wanted to progress their stories, like unlock characters or progress the main story, but the leveling part would be done for everyone. But at least the quests don't expire, so I can just come back to everything then.

1. Half the Star Path is free2play. But the moonstones granted are in the premium track.

2. The Star Path is a limited time event, the rewards are only available for the 2 months the event is active.

3. You are just buying the potential to unlock them, you still have to do the tasks allocated to recieve the prize rewards.

4. If/when the Star Path requests a locked character, then you will be unable to perform the task specified. I speak from experience, last time, half the Star Path tasks were disabled for me due to this reason.

5. I think the only thing worth paying for is the Star Path, all other purchases can be disregarded unless they are really wanted.

FYI, some of the main story missions require a specific Friendship level.
When you get to the final main mission, you need at least 4 specified characters at Friendship 10.
Moana is the only one I can remember who needs that level.
