Can't Gift Ariel Training Book

As the title says, I'm having trouble changing Ariel's role from Mining to Fishing with the Training Manual Books. I can give the books to other villagers, but every time I try to gift it to her, she won't accept it.

I've tried changing her from Human to Mermaid and back to Human gifting it both times, but it blocks it from being given to her. Does anyone else have this problem with her?

I don't think it is possible. Neither her or Ursula had roles to begin with.

When she originally hits lv2 and you can pick a role, she can't pick Fishing. So that might conflict with trying to give her a Fishing book.

Ariel already has some coding that ensures she only gets non-fish food (being a vegetarian).
So maybe she’s got another coding inhibition that stops her from accepting a fishing manual.

I gave Ariel the fishing book and she is now a fishing companion. But, I also did it right away and they may have patched it out.

It's quite possible... was hoping they wouldn't patch it out

You used to be able to give her the training manual for fishing but it was unintended and has been patched out with the newest hotfix as of February 28th.
In the patch notes it states: "- Gifting the Fishing Training Manual to Ariel no longer locks her role. - "https://disneydreamlightvalley.com/news/update-feb-28"
If one changed her role to fishing prior to the patch she should still be able to keep it.

Ariel has no role whatsoever and I still cannot give her the Fishing Training Manual :(

So, what I found out is, you can't have her be a Fishing Buddy. Same with Ursula. They can be any other kind of Buddy, just sadly not fishing.

Thanks! That's kinda sad but I'm glad we have our answer. I made Ursula my gardening buddy since she keeps talking about her garden of poor unfortunate souls hahaha!
