The numbers might have changed if they tweaked this Star Path any, but the last time I figured the math out, if you complete all of the duties and obtain all of the rewards, you end up being out a total of 500 Moonstones overall for the lower level Premium unlock and out 400 Moonstones for the higher level Premium unlock. Not a huge difference there, but you definitely never break even on these. So the Premium Star Paths are only ever worth it if you actually want any of the Premium rewards included on them.
I've been playing since the game first released into Early Access, and I've done all of the Premium Star Paths so far. This is the first one that I'll be skipping.
For me, the premium path wasn’t good because there aren’t enough decorative items for this one.
I like physical objects I can place in my valley, not motifs.
This one is unusual in that regard, it’s mostly motifs whereas the previous one had more objects.
But now on the last page I use the extra 100 currency to buy the "90 moonstones for 10 currency" 10 extra times gaining me 900 moonstones so I gain 100 moonstones every event.
The higher Premium unlock with the starting bonus currency IS the best deal, though, if you're interested in actually collecting all of the rewards from the Star Path. If people are only interested in trying to farm Moonstones, then the free version is the best for that.
Premium costs 3300, and you get 2900 back. -400
So you're not gaining 100 moonstones, you're losing 100 less. ;)
(and then, of course, you're also getting the daily moonstone chest, over 40 days of the path. By the old 10/chest, you'd break even after 40 days if you bought the 3300 level.)
I sometimes cannot find a chest for days and you keep getting new ones. If I finally find the hidden one - I get a double chest day. I also noticed a couple times I just could not find a green chest and after a few days it got moved to the starter area (double green chest day). Blues chest same thing.
Meanwhile, this game doesn't make you spend at all. Especially now that we have dreamsnaps. I've never bought any extra moonstones, but between all the ways there've been to get more in-game, I've currently got ~33000. And I've gotten every premium star path since Dec 22, and probably 1/3 of the things sold in the moonstone shop.
But beyond that, you're replying to something from a year ago.
