I found a way around it - I found that you can download the tool through microsoft and it works that way, posting in case anyone else is having this issue and can't open the tool through Steam.

I really wanted to try the avatar design tool. I bought the game first. Then after that I found out that it won't work once you buy the game (on Steam.)

I tried the MS store (when I asked about this a while back), but it wouldn't work for me.

Could anyone tell us: Is there anything unique in the design tool? Hair, clothes, shoes, poses etc.? Thanks.

That's a complicated question because the answer is both yes and no. The benefit of using the avatar design tool is that it includes ALL the clothes, accessories, hairstyles, etc that you could eventually get in the game once you collect everything. If you start the game without a code from the avatar creator, you're limited to a small amount of clothing items, accessories, hairstyles, etc. So technically there isn't anything unique in the tool, but there are things that will take you many, many hours of playing before you actually get. Hope that makes sense.

You mentioned that the MS store avatar creator didn't work for you, so you could try the one on Epic. Remember though that you can only import an avatar once and then that option goes away.

Yes. Thank you.

Basically sounds like some start out with everything if they were able to install the designer tool before buying the game. People whoo didn't know not to buy the game first, don't have access until or unless unlocking the items later.

Do you know if anything is unique forever to only the designer tool?

Epic...Not sure what it is, sorry. Is that the game company?

I like my avatar itself but I wanted to try the tool and also any of the stuff, I wanted to see that.

It's less uncomfortable now that I made some clothes in the game (Which I love, especially things like the pre made pockets), (I do wish it had the option to add a hem trim all the way round -- there are border designs but not all around.) And bought or won a few things.

It would still be nice to see the things and access them.

I know they did not intend this way but it almost feels like punishing those of us who spent money (bought the game - I got the highest level pack.)

I would buy the avatar designer tool and stuff in it, if they sold it later as DLC. Long as it was between 4.99 and 14.99 maybe.

Just to make it clear, you only import the items that the avatar you create is actually wearing. You don't get any of the other items that are in the tool. You get to see them and try them on, but what you select for your final avatar (when you create the code) is all you can bring into the game. So you might have a hairstyle, pants, top, shoes, backpack, etc that your avatar is wearing and that is the only items that will be imported. I seriously doubt there would ever be a reason to offer the designer as a DLC because as I mentioned, you can only import an avatar one time. You can't make multiple avatars to import.

did they take out the Disney Dreamlight Valley - Avatar Designer Tool? Because I cant find it anywhere before I bought the full game.

The tool was taken offline shortly before the game became publicly available.
So it's not longer possible to obtain.
