Need help for frame drops
Tried to play this game only to discover as to how horrid frame drops can be and it is hard to have this game consistent on play even in offline. Anyone who can help me diagnose or suggest ways to keep it at 60 fps?

If your computer has an IGP and a dedicated GPU, make sure the game is running on the latter. If performance is still an issue, try closing other applications in the background if you haven't already. And if it doesn't help... I'm tempted to suggest the upgrade path.

Besides what Red already said, there's many different tricks and guides online to optimize your PC for better performance, I could even tell you about some of them.

Is it via settings or nvidia control panel?

If you have the Nvidia control panel on your computer, just open it and set the game to use the Nvidia GPU (I don't remember where exactly it's located but it's easy to find).

Alright so I did try to configure on Nvidia control panel. It's slowly improving but it's not consistent 100% to get 60 fps. Below is the link of my NVIDIA settings, if you know ideal workarounds for this one it would be appreciated. As for Maximum performance, I decided not to go for it since it quickly gets frame drops.

What are your specs and can you list some of the games you play without any performance issues?

If you get framerate drops while being in high performance mode, there could be several factors at play. Make sure your computer isn't in power saving mode (so in high performance mode, on top of the GPU's one), is plugged into a power outlet (also because there are usually power saving options on battery, sometimes capping the framerate), and isn't overheating (thermal throttling comes to mind).

If all that fails though, I'll be genuinely surprised your laptop can't run the game properly considering a 960M should be more than enough for this game. It might be a different story on the CPU side of things, but since you have such a GPU I'd guess you at least have a 4th gen i5, which should also probably be good to run this game without drops.

And if that's the case, you might want to clean your computer up, both literally and figuratively: literally with an air spray to remove dust from fans, and figuratively to free up disk space and remove possible malware (which can take up CPU and GPU resources).

My computer is a laptop that has an inflated battery that is prone to being heated at a fast rate, which is why I had an electric fan nearby to cool it. And my processor is an i7-6700. Currently I have plans to get a new better PC but it will have to wait til early next year probably.

Admittedly this computer looks to be on its last legs that it can have a hard time dealing with 3D such as Granblue Fantasy Versus as well.

As for the last remark, I will try to do that, though I cannot reach the fans here since I won't be able to do that and it is a laptop that I cannot afford to break anymore and one fiddling from within by me can break it. And as for Malware, I did have my computer scanned. I will see and update it here when I have opened Melty again.

^ Did you try reapplying paste to your CPU?

Aren't inflated batteries dangerous, as in "they can explode or burn if you're not careful"? To be fair I think you'd do well to replace it anyway, that way you'll avoid overheating and have a spare laptop when you get your new computer.

And as far as I know you don't necessarily need to open your computer up to use an air spray: just blow air onto the fan's protective grid to expel dust from it.

That might be a good solution but more of an issue on a laptop, doubly so when OP said they risked breaking it. Still worth considering though.
Shadowlet Dec 14, 2021 @ 11:56pm
Oh yeah pretty sure you want to forget using that laptop unless you replace that battery.
Nep5DS Dec 15, 2021 @ 1:35am
Yeah my computer just needs a new battery. It is a rented laptop that I have acquired and I was told that the laptop has an inflated battery from the start. I don't have any access to any of the battery solutions atm since I don't have money yet for that.

This is one last solution that I will try honestly though at this point, I won't expect much from it. Thank you still for suggesting this.

Regardless thank you for the help that you gave me. I think I will stick with the best settings I have or will find and have a new gaming computer that can give the best performance for all of my games I have.

No problem, you're welcome!

I hope you'll be able to keep your laptop in a usable state though, since even though it's by no means cutting-edge, it should still be a viable option to play on the go (and fighting games in particular should run pretty smoothly for the most part). Source: I have a laptop with a 4th gen i7 and a 860M and it could run GBVS just fine last I checked.
