why do u only have bows? most armys had some inf for a holding force so archers can do there work safe. also if they had shields then they would soak up alotta arrows if u just shot them head on or to there rightside

This is a known issue. Slavic said that prior to launch, the archers were extremely OP. Unfortunately, he tweaked them too much the opposite direction. Give it time :)

dude with shield are powerful and ur not using Longbow men who have trained since being a kid its a bunch of farmers .Also bows aint guns

no the point of a crossbow is that any farmer can use it and kill a trained longbow man who has trained all his life . archers need support

Bow still takes fair bit of practice to get decent at.

What stance do you use with the archers? Also did you have gambesons at least on them?

Or were they just farmers with a bow and basically just regular clothing?

The recent streamer access week, they were all saying "Bows are OP!"
So the dev nerfed bows.
He said yesterday it seems he nerfed them too hard, so a buff patch is coming soon.

I dont think you understand anything about bows, armor and warfare.

Developer did panic a bit and nerf them to the ground. Pre-release militia archers were a bit too good, but now they do zero damage. Not just them, any bowmen squad does nothing and drops like a sack of potatos. You may need to wait for a patch and don't use archers for now, it's a waste of manpower.

I watched a dude using 2 suads of archers, and standard brigand unit still outstamina him and one tap his archers one by one. Zero damage to brigands after 5-8 mins of kiting and shooting them in the back. It was hilarious.

This isnt necessarily limited to just archer only compositions I have found my archers completely useless even when using them in conjunction with other troops. The only time they have ever actually helped was when I already had an overwhelming amount of troops present, even with 4 or 5 volleys on bandit groups they usually kill maximum one person and switching to shoot at will does not help at all either.

Bows are pretty difficult to use and require a lot of training, ease of use was the reason why Crossbows existed. That being said there is definitely something wonky with them. I had 2 bow units dueling eachother and they ran out of stamina before a single one took casualties, but after they did run out of stamina they started dropping left and right.

If I have to guess the "dodge arrows" command is OP and doesn't work well when out of stam

To add to this, I had a heavy archer mercenary squad and two of my own archer militia. They were in a shootout with one archer enemy unit.
After like 10 volleys I managed to kill 1 enemy archer.
Archers are useless in this game.
