Galactic Civilizations IV
More cat stuff.
Space cats are the reason I play galciv over other 4x games. Can we expect more? Hairy ships that purr, maybe?

As a matter of fact yes it is.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😁👍
Cat races are fun to create. I created the Kzinti warrior cat race for GC3.

Even if it is a pst with some humour, I take the last sentence very seriously. It deserves a little mad scientist award ... :)

I love Sci-Fi, and the idea of a kind of sentient space ship appeals to me...
- I can not recall well, but I think in the series "Battlestar Galactica", we had ships closely linked to bio things (I can not find another word),
- And it in "Babylon 5" we had a spaceship able to feel alive, but the concept was short-lived as we never had a final answer.
- I am sure there is also this kind of close biological interactions in some Star Trek episodes, but can't recall in which of the 8 major series...
- in Peter F. Hamilton books, I think it was in the Void Trilogy, cities like Makkathran were in fact the top of enormous space ships who were intelligent space animals, and able to morph themselves in order to appear like building, sewers, walls...

Well. I am sure there are numerous examples of space ships with a physical and bio bond with their owner/creator/friend/crew. Of course not talking about HAL, as AI and tech is not bio.
So yes, hairy ships that purrs makes sense to me.
And this is why I am switching to stellaris..Facepalm

I am not switching to Stellaris, but I totally agree! Such a cheesy kitten nonsense is just ludicrous and I am happy that this is not part of the default game. I hope it never will!

Galactic Civilizations (IV) is a more serious game with numerous various species but not comic-like or like some Manga stuff.

I can Imagine cat races though, like the Mrrshan from MoO who were serious business as an opposing race. I´d like even bears, birds, crocodiles and whatnot as long as they won´t become cartoonish in any way.

I got attacked by a dog when I was running a few days ago, now in my new game on hard I got invaded by a dog empire called Carnoid Realms xD
That was funny
Let's not forget to mention the sci-fi novels by Larry Niven who first created the Kzinti cat race in his Man-Kzin series. Wing Commander villains were cat race called the Kahrathi. Star Trek the animated series had thier version of the Kzinti. Cats have been a part of sci-fi for a very long time.

Now now. Let's not take this out of context. The OP just made a suggestion and it was actually the Devs who introduced cats as characters in the game. It doesn't cheese anything from playing the game because it's an option you can choose to play or not play. You might disagree with the OPs suggestion but let's please be respectful about it.

Well, then I suggest to let any cat race which might be implemented into the game look like they actually could have evolved from former "wild" cats into an intelligent space travelling race. Which is hard to imagine if they would still look like my pet.

Add the Orion's from the board game "Starfire", and books by Weber and White.
The game predates MOO by several years bought my copy in mid 1970's.

However you are right in your second paragraph.
I speaks for the entire community.
