Workshop?
I am not sure what the devs would have to do to get a workshop on steam. I think it would make modding a bit easier for those who aren't super into downloading stuff off of a website. You can just click a button and then boom, the game is modded.

That's how workshop support works in theory. But in practice, it can be a little more complicated than that. Take Neverwinter Nights, for example. It has workshop support, but mods downloaded from there tend to not work properly. The fix? Find the mod that's causing trouble (which is a simple yet annoying process) and place the necessary files in the folder those things would go anyway if you were to download the mods manually from an external source.

BRC also relies heavily on BepInEx for modding, which I don't think would work well at all with the workshop infrastructure. So much like Risk of Rain 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and many other highly-moddable games, we just have to deal with getting our mods from somewhere other than Steam. If it's anything, you can use the Thunderstore mod loader to update mods while still launching the game from Steam.

Workshop support requires dev time to implement, whereas from my understanding R2modman and Thunderstore are entirely run by modders and don't require dev input.

Dev said no workshop support in the FAQ thread, still, modding BRC doesn't seem like much of an hassle either way so it's not a terrible loss really.
