I'm sure we'll get more character DLCs, but for now we can only dream about maps. Our best bet would be mods. I think, however, that it'd go a long way if we got repeatable challenges as a free update or something. Maybe daily challenges with a leaderboard. Some people will come back to BRC just to cruise around, but repeatable challenges with different rankings (like how Hover had different medals depending on how well you did at a challenge, fluffy being the highest) will give people a better excuse to buy character DLCs and play more of the game past the story and post-game challenges.
Heck, the daily online challenge in OlliOlli World and the rankings there are enough reason to revisit it every now and again past the story and DLC, not to mention it rewards cosmetics as you increase your rank.
Alas, at this point, I have a feeling the game will remain as is. The vibe I'm getting from the devs is that they'll fix bugs and maybe work on some QOL features besides releasing character DLCs, but not much else. It's odd that they seem to want the game to have longevity (suggested by what character DLCs we already have and taking from how they support Lethal League Blaze) but there are no features to support that.
I'd love to see some of the challenge modes in JSRF make a return here, like the time attack to see how fast you can tag every graffiti spot in a single level, or even a type of crew battle where you need to paint over an NPC's tags to make sure you have the most graffiti up by the end of a time limit. Hell, with some of the new mechanics this game has, they could remake some tony hawk game modes in this
(also a cypher point in the Hideout. please)
NG+ tends to be shallow when there's no purpose behind it. If it was added to BRC for the sake of it being there, I'd much prefer if they were to put that effort into a free update with repeatable challenges or something that'll improve the game's longevity instead a shallow implementation of NG+.
The point of NG+ in this game would be so that you have a reason to use the characters / unlockables you unlock. JSRF had this same issue. JSR I believe had NG+.
Did JSR have NG+ back when no one was even thinking about that? As far as I know, you can replay levels after you beat the story, but this is the first time I hear of such an old game having NG+.
I agree that a theoretical NG+ would be better if it had harder challenges the 2nd time around. Harder crew battles, maybe heat goes up to 6 from the start, stuff like that would make it worth playing.
JSR loops infinitely, as soon as you beat the final boss it goes back to the first level with all your unlocks intact.
