Obviously we want to hear what should be improved, so we appreciate that.
We know Northgard - it's a great game and I totally need to try the brand new DLC. It's one of the game's we're inspired by, so it's flattering you mentioned it.
We are aware that there's a lot of balance issues and features missing. Although it's called the demo, it's a pre-alpha build, meaning you can expect a lot of changes in the future. Our aim was to get a lot of feedback from the demo (and I got to admit the community really surprised us with tons of messages) and to balance the game and iron out issues based on the reports we received.
So even if you didn't enjoy it that much yet, I still believe you should give it another try in the future and see what chaged.
There was a UI slider in the Settings. You can check how it works in one of our Reddit posts. Would you use it if you knew it exists?
Against the Storm is a roguelite city builder and randomized resources are there to support the roguelite part (especially the diversity of experience). We want each playthrough to feel different and encourage you to experiment with different strategies.
Once again thanks for your feedback! There's a long way ahead of us and the game will change a lot. I hope to see you around and hear from you in the future :)
Take care!
Northgard is not a bad game, but it's quite boring after beating it once.
A better game to take inspiration from would be warcraft 3 or spellforce, where you have rpg and rts elements.
You could have hero units with item, that could go on adventures aka rogue lite stuff, and have a central hub as your main base and a world map where you could conquer other provinces in the same way as dawn of war soulstorm or warlords battlecry 3.
Wow you and I are quite different. I found Northgard abysmally boring. If this game went that direction I'd shelve it for good.
Hey!
To be fair, it's been almost 2 years since the OP posted their opinion. Since then, the game changed A LOT, especially based on the community feedback. We released 20 content updates (they're listed on the roadmap[eremitegames.com]) and plan to deliver several more over the next months.
Here's a recent video of how the game looks like and plays now:

On discord they are spouting a ton of good idea's just wait to see what actually gets implemented
Thanks for the kind words, I'm really glad that you enjoy Against the Storm. We made hundreds of changes since 2020 when this thread was posted and I'm happy to see that the reception changed much since then. Back then it was only a demo made in less than a year, all after-hours. It had hardly any content or mechanics it has now.
I will close this topic soon but I encourage everyone to share your impressions and feedback in new threads. We're eager to hear your ideas and suggestions based on the current version of the game.
I 100% understand that it's difficult or even annoying to wait for Early Access games to be fully released.
We decided to extend our time in Early Access beyond our initial plans because we really enjoyed working with the community so far. We have the capacity to continue updating the game with new content, mechanics, and improvements
We didn't rest on our laurels for the past 12 months. We delivered 27 bi-weekly content updates (without a single delay) in which we included a total of 2300+ improvements, 57% of which were directly inspired by community feedback. I believe it was a mutually beneficial process for both us and players and we're excited to work with new community members now that we entered Steam.
Also, we tried to make the Early Access programme as convenient for the players as possible, so your meta progress won't ever be erased by us when updates go live or the game leaves Early Access.
I hope you'll have fun with the game, whenever you decide to pick it up :)
