Blight Post ignored reserve?
Was doing the blightrot tutorial today, built a blight post, staffed it, was managing other things. Suddenly all my wood was gone, even though I had a reserve of 40 wood at the warehouse, and the blight post was still grabbing wood and making more product. Is this intended behavior? Kinda wrecked me on building my second hearth as I no longer had wood coming in to produce planks, I had to scramble to resolve the situation.

this probably has to do with the fact that Blight Post is not a workshop internally. production limits work on production buildings and Blight Post is not a production building in the code. same reason why it doesn't show up in the Recipes panel

Eremite is aware of the issue and would like to fix it at some point, but this requires significant time investment for a minor improvement, so it's been on their backlog for over a year now

I'm assuming that you (probably) didn't set a limit on the Blight Post's production, ie to stop at X number of Purging Fire?

^Without limits, any building will continue to make their product(s) as long as resources to make them are available. That's fine if you have a lot to spare, but otherwise it can quickly lead to what you described.

True, but he wrote, he has set limit on wood in Warehouse, this should have prevented wood from being taken to Blightpost. Unless I am reading it wrong... 40 wood is enough for 4 purging fires, it will not last long.

40 wood is only for 4 purging fire.
If you placed 3 worker inside blight post, THIS WILL EAT THROUGH YOUR FUEL FAST.

No big deal, just restart the tutorial about this.
Now you also learn about the maximum limit control is how important

They can restart the tutorial but with a reserve there still should have been wood at the warehouse, right? Does blightpost ignore that?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thx for explanation. This means the only way to prevent it from consuming all of our fuel is to set a production limit on purging fire in the blight post. Settings in the warehouse will be ignored.

That explanation makes sense and is in line with what I assumed when I noticed I couldn't find it in the recipes. I was able to finish the tutorial in any case, I was just surprised by this unexpected behavior. If it's a known bug I'll just keep in mind to work around it with production limits. I usually set them on things that are resource intensive that I don't want infinitely available anyway, it just didn't occur to me that my wood reserve wouldn't be respected.

I expected that the resources would NOT be available unless they were over my reserve.

I always limit Blight Post production to however many fires I expect to need to fight blight and complete orders/events. I fact I limit most production that isn't food to what's needed, because I want no more than what is necessary. Setting warehouse reserves can be useful (stone for example), but you are almost always better off controlling overall production and consumption of resources.

That aside, as others said Blight Post isn't a production building, it is an emergency service that is there to save your settlement from destruction (if things are bad enough) so it makes sense that reserves don't apply to it. It is the one special building to pay more attention to, and don't let it run if you don't need it. If you are running out of wood, you probably have more important things to fix.
