Do you mean the cornerstones that have a negative effect?

Or are you talking about the curses from World Events that last a few settlements?

Or do you mean the negative effects of failed glade events?

I am sure you mean the effects from world events ("!"). They are often limited by number of settlements or at least taking place only in the current cycle. They can be beneficial (blessings) or add bad conditions (curses). They are shown within the settlements in the lower left, just like other cornerstones and perks you get during a settlement (or like the world map modifiers buff/debuff).

Yes they're modifiers like cornerstones or glade event effects which you get from world map events.

Yeah, so I got one. The curse was that 8 villagers die at the start of year 8 - for 2 settlements. In exchange for 10 seal fragments. I thought it was worth it - losing 8 villagers at that late stage in the game isn't that bad.

Ooh yeah. Those little overworld quests are really fun, I wish there were more of them. In your case, if you play well, you will win before it even triggers!
