Explain like I'm a dummy: The new map seals

Took an extended break from this game, but came back and saw that currently the experimental branch is getting what would be considered a proper "Map Boss" for each world cycle and that caught my attention. Been taking in all the new stuff and loving it, but have a question:

While going through a play session, I saw one of the green seals really early on, like after the first settlement or so. Now I never really got into the prestige system, was having fun on Viceroy, but I figured "ok, so that's the easy one, I bet there are harder ones if I go further out"

Except I never found any others. And by the time the cycle ended I realized I was to far away to launch an expedition to the green seal to interact with it.

So for these seals, is it a gradual thing but there can only be one type active at any time? So like, I'll have to start a new run, and sort of hover in circles around this early Green Seal so I can run it at the end of a cycle, then presumably find the next one that will be a different color and further out?

Up to two can be active per cycle. You can only clear one seal per cycle. New ones spawn when you start a new cycle. You get higher difficulty seals as you complete more.

You don't have to hover around if you have the necessary fragments to complete it. Also you can plan out your path so you get there when you want to.

Thank you, I think this was tripping me up. Went in and just completed the green one on my 2nd settlement, now it makes more sense. I initially read the in-game description saying "At the end of the cycle you can attempt to yadda yadda yadda yadda" and got it stuck in my brain you can only attempt one of these once you filled up the cycle bar.

Time to get caught up on these seals!

I think it used to be the case that you could only do one at the end of a cycle, but they changed that out of convenience. The tooltip might be out of date.

The two highest level seals you can attempt will be accessible.

If you have enough seal fragments you can attempt to seal settlement early, and don't have to wait around it.
