I would say over 80-100.
To reach max prestige in a hurry, about 30 hours.
To beat adamantium seal from ckean install, maybe 50, 60?
To get all citadel upgrades 80 or 90.
I would say the first two are very very generous estimations. You would need quite a bit of luck to achieve that. Or perhaps i am not experienced enough in the game:)
To reach the final seal one needs to play about 25 games minimum.
Doing that from a clean start means limited unlocks. This is a challenge in itself.
A new player is unlikely to succeed going straight up the difficulty curve like that without at least losing some games.
Doing that in 2 hours per game would be another added challenge and that would bring it to the level of impossible for a new player.
Reaching max prestige is basically the same as reaching the final seal. (takes 21 games minimum) and is absotely impossible to do in 30 hours for a new player.
I have 800 hours in the game, and to do a run from clean start to final seal in 50 hours would maybe be challenging for me. (normally do 3-4 hours per game, dont know how much added challenge it would be to do them faster, never tried)
So basically i would say 150 hours would be a reasonable expectation for a motivated new player to reach the p20, the final seal and all unlocks. That would give time to first play a handful of games veteran-viceroy to get to know the game and collect some unlocks before moving up the prestige ladder and one would probably not go straight from gold to adamantine but do an extra 10 games or so to do an in-between seal.
Verily you can not make ANY mistakes not even minor ones. I mean mistakes like a mistake that costs you extra 2 years to finish the current town you are making. (I had a very very good run once, as in i should have finished in 4-5(!) years on p10. But i forgot to make one tiny reallocation cost me 2 years:D)
And the higher difficulty really take a lot of "build consideration" in order to win
Edit : About the campaign. This is roguelite.
If you play Slay The Spire or FTL, beating the "final boss" 1 time didn't mean you "finish the game".
You set your own goal.
For me , FTL is to beat the game once with 25 different ships.
In Against The Storm, you have 2 option
- complete repair the highest difficulty seal. (long long way to go)
- complete repair the seal in true RogueLike mode. If you can beat this, you are better player than previous point, this take the least time probably
