You might want to stop cutting trees during the storm.
- population, each villager will increase Hostility
- Woodcutters, like above but even more
- time, each passing year will increase Hostility
- Glades, each opened Glade will increase Hostility
- some Events will increase Hostility while you work on them
Many of those numbers depends on the difficulty you play on.
By heart I cant tell you what the numbers are for woodcutter's hostility on settler or viceroy for instance.
But on p16+ every woodcutter generates +24 hostility. Which can be negated in a number of ways. (But it depends on a multitutde of factors whether you should spend a cornerstone to reduce it for instance.)
