Where are my Beavers at?
I've been playin' more Prestige-level games lately, and Storm season is longer and nastier these days. But anyway... the thing that I'm noticing is I gotta micro a lot lot more, and that's not my fav.

The Storm hits, and I pull my woodcutters out. Now I got a bunch of extra hands I need to use, 'cuz it's just a waste to let 'em just idle. At lower levels, I could just use the Storm to 'build' all the stuff that hasn't been finished, but with longer Storms... well, that doesn't work. So I put my unemployed cutters (Beavers, if I can) to work. Sometimes I can just chuck 'em into the mine(s) and be done. But more and more I'll spread 'em out into a bunch of different buildings.

The Storm finally ends, and it's time to get back to work. Now I gotta so searching around the damn map to find my cutters again... and it's just frustrating. Prolly nothing to do about it... just venting mostly, I guess.

I'm locked into a different game at the moment so I can't double-check, but if those are wrong, check the controls menu.

Huh. Alt. Same as clicking the races' icon, but quicker. And I see now that you can unassign when you're Alt'ing. That's certainly better... Thank you!

Very Helpful! Thanks :steamhappy:

honestly i wish the ALT overlay was better. Its overlapping a lot and sometimes very hard to find that one worker of a specific race you are looking for.

had one game where i built so densely that the haulers of a small warehouse i built were completely hidden by other overlays that no matter how i turned the cam, you just couldn't see who was in the building in the overlay.

Yea, I totally agree with you. I will say this tho... now that I know you can ALT (instead of click), that helps. But I see now that ALT-UI's issue is because they needed enough screen space to be able to click on a specific worker's icon (to unassign). So you ALT... and then Q/E to rotate, which helps you to see the icon you're looking for... but there needs to be enough room to click on said worker.

Zooming in with mouse-wheel also helps to spread building UIs apart.

or just click on the beaver face and it brings up the overlay. use the mouse wheel to switch between races.

right click to unassign, left click to assign.

Huh. Ok then. I've been kinda wondering how they put a single-click 'unassign' cutters... without there being a "counter" to that. Especially once you put Beavers into the mix... yea, I want to add a worker here, but I need it to be a Beaver.

So you start with ALT to find the Beavers to free-up with left, then left click on said Beavers so you can assign with a right. Especially once you consider, "you know, what I need is two humans for this field..." option.

I did *not* expect this thread to be so productive. If management is paying attention... there really needs to be a tutorial section that deals with this directly.

Thank you!

Unless I am really short on manpower (which I am at the start of the game) I usually tread the unassigned woodcutters as extra builders as this way they are easy to find and they are doing something
In OP:

At lower levels, I could just use the Storm to 'build' all the stuff that hasn't been finished, but with longer Storms...

Reading is good!

FYI, prestige level three literally doubles Storm length.

The UI could definitely be better about it, but yeah, holding ALT shows who is working where (which is difficult for dense industries). Scrolling while holding alt allows you to change which type of villager you put into a building, and right clicking removes them.

I'm actually very disappointed in the topic, as I thought by the thread name this was going to be a #BeaverGang chat about how great of a species beavers are.....super cute too
