As stated on the store page for it. It is a very very long grind to unlock them and also they are totally middling as far as races go by what I've seen so far. Supposedly can upgrade their houses 4 times but never had the option to upgrade them at all which was super disappointing. Honestly a lot of buyers remorse from me as my first run on the new biome was no fertile soil and the only blueprint i got from the strider port was a fertile soil building zzzz.
They should reduce it to at least level 10.
Why 13?
As it is, this is just more of the same, because we get harpies at lvl 5 and foxes at lvl 10 (I think; you said 8, but it's been a minute since I checked for sure), so it stands to reason frogs would be at a higher level via following the foxes' example. And it's not like the game ends the moment the upgrade tree is finished - only we decide when that point is, as befitting a roguelike.
why 10 ?
Your argument really don't make a lot of sense. Because for those people they are probably already level 13 so there is zero difference for people who play a lot if it's locked behind a level 13 or 10 or not locked at all. So i have no idea why you're arguing on this if it doesn't affect you.
The only people it affects are newer players, so it should be balanced based on the progression and experience for new players. Not everyone has that much time to play the game but they still want to experience the content.
Yet while level 13 is a bit of a climb, I wouldn't call it an unreasonable amount of gameplay either. It's okay if you don't have as much time as others; that just means you should enjoy the time spent playing more, going at your own pace rather than rushing imo. The game's not going anywhere - it can wait for you to take your time, as necessary.
Particularly since Frogs, while a new species, is ultimately just going to add a bit more variety to the game's normal progression/paths. Is that reward worth the rush? Only you can decide that, but personally I wouldn't say that it is, in that context anyway.
