An achievement as RNG-heavy as Feeling Lucky is lame.
Came back to the DLC as it added new achievements which erased my old completion and I have to now do the DLC achievements to re-attain it, which is fine.

Was able to complete 5 of them in my first game. The 100 Expeditions just requires repetition, no big deal there.

The Feeling Lucky achievement is really ruining the experience.

The layers of RNG on this are absurd. I'm at like 80 total Expeditions now and I haven't even seen EITHER of the required blueprints AT ALL. They should not be this rare - requiring both to complete the achievement is pure RNG with little to no personal agency whatsoever.

It's hardly an "achievement" to simply roll dice for hours and hours and hours. This isn't fun.

I thought maybe sending out a full 5/5 resource-boosted Expedition might increase the odds % of looting one of these but 40 of those later with neither found and I just don't think it matters. If it did, and considerably increased the chances, then maybe this wouldn't be so bad. As is, this is not user friendly design for an achievement.

Then I started mass genocide and kill like 80 lizards and 40 humans and for every 12 deaths i get new blueprint without Queen geting mad thanks to perk from Altar. Once again THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Well done man! Took me 98 years to get the pre-patch 1.5 "Feeling Lucky" achievement. Not gonna lie, felt good getting it in before the rework... but I definitely understand their desire to reduce the pain of the achievement

Damn, you don't look a single day over 87.

is the number of 27 industry buildings correct? Do I get the industry building for achievement 100% guaranteed if I am at 26?

Unless there is some bug you should get it.
The number varies based on which species you chose.

well i hope it works this is quite tiring i have not seen this building in ages :D

also it is hard to get to 26 since there is a time cap with unrest

The general strategy to do this achievement in a deterministic way (and not rely on the natural 0.001% chance) is to get the "Frequent caravans" cornerstone to competely negate Impatience (what you call unrest I'd guess). Then find a way to neuter Hostility (like a Temple, or the Protected Trade cornerstone). Then you have an eternal settlement and you can just wait until you're at 24/26 (buying every blueprint from traders) before sending out your last two expeditions. (it needs to be 2 below the max because there's also the Finesmith as "rare" industry building that an expedition can bring back)

Warning: extremely boring because you have to send new trade routes every 3 minutes or impatience will start building again. But you gotta do what you gotta do for them achievements. Took me nearly 50 years and that's the new, easier version...

I refuse to play that way.
If the roll is truly random, if would take on average just 3 games to get the Rainpunk Foundry.
8 draws per game out of 26-27 picks and whatever you get from blueprints and merchants.

If the Rainpunk has a lower chance to be brought back from expeditions compared to other blueprints, then that's just devious.

finesmith, rainpunk foundry, and homestead have 1/4 of the weighting of regular bps
Ansive Dec 4, 2024 @ 3:23am
In that case the odds are a lot worse. In a regular game I would get about 10 blueprints.
Getting the Rainpunk Foundry would then be 1.5 to 3% out of the remaining 16. If I add those, the chance is about 15%. So it would take about 7 games of 8 pulls.
Of course that's assuming you can get the Foundry without having the Finesmith.
I may have to reconsider.

You can always extend your game just a bit instead of indefinitely. Buy all blueprints from traders, get all blueprints from reputation and lastly, expedition the rest. This would still not guarantee the drop, but should significantly increase your odds, so you should require less games.

Or you can just play the game, eventually it will happen naturally.

Yes, if you get the dual smuggler's visit from the Forbidden Altar for instance it would help a lot. If you want to do it "naturally" without the eternal settlement, I would also advise you to *only* take Industry buildings from your reputation blueprints (take a camp or a farm with embarkation points). Your settlement will suffer but thankfully there are a few Industry-type buildings that can still allow you to make complex foods (like the Brick Oven) And of course you can get camps and food buildings from traders too, the early game traders like Sahilda and Zhorg have them relatively often.

Finally got it. First game after the DLC update.
6th expedition, at 13/27 industry buildings.

For some reason, the new feeling lucky deed is not completed even though i got the old one :( This feels like a bug really, since obviously i have found the Foundry already. but ive been spending some settlements trying to get it anyway, while refusing to redo the whole 100yr ordeal that was the pre 1.5 version and actually gamble for the "lucky" part. I can normally get to betweeen 15-20 buildings in the time it takes to complete all the possible expeditions, but even after multiple efforts, still nothing. Having another go at endlessmode is pretty far down my list of things to do though so if it doesnt happen "naturally" i guess i'll do it very last.

They mentioned in the live stream that the old deed remains untouched (just renamed and changed to a hidden deed).
They created a separate new deed to make it easier to get the steam achievement.

If you feel you should have the new deed unlocked I think you can modify your save file
MetaSave.save in c:\Users\-user-\AppData\LocalLow\Eremite Games\Against the Storm\

I never got the old deed so it now looks like this for me

{
"model": "Deed Homestead and Foundry",
"amount": 0,
"floatAmount": 0.0,
"inGameProgress": 0,
"inGameFloatProgress": 0.0,
"tracked": false,
"completed": false,
"shown": false,
"rewarded": false,
"isLegacy": false
},

{
"model": "Deed Foundry in Bay",
"amount": 1,
"floatAmount": 0.0,
"inGameProgress": 0,
"inGameFloatProgress": 0.0,
"tracked": false,
"completed": true,
"shown": true,
"rewarded": true,
"isLegacy": false
}

I'm guessing the amount, completed and rewarded tags are what matter.

Yes i have the old deed as the new extremely lucky hidden one completed from before 1.5, and i understand they made a new one and also why, my issue is i think that if you have completed the old one it should give you the new one automatically as completed as well. I will work on some other things for a bit and then circle back to this at the end if its not smt that needs to be fixed :) Definitely not comfortable messing with any codes :P
