An achievement as RNG-heavy as Feeling Lucky is lame.
Came back to the DLC as it added new achievements which erased my old completion and I have to now do the DLC achievements to re-attain it, which is fine.

Was able to complete 5 of them in my first game. The 100 Expeditions just requires repetition, no big deal there.

The Feeling Lucky achievement is really ruining the experience.

The layers of RNG on this are absurd. I'm at like 80 total Expeditions now and I haven't even seen EITHER of the required blueprints AT ALL. They should not be this rare - requiring both to complete the achievement is pure RNG with little to no personal agency whatsoever.

It's hardly an "achievement" to simply roll dice for hours and hours and hours. This isn't fun.

I thought maybe sending out a full 5/5 resource-boosted Expedition might increase the odds % of looting one of these but 40 of those later with neither found and I just don't think it matters. If it did, and considerably increased the chances, then maybe this wouldn't be so bad. As is, this is not user friendly design for an achievement.

Aron (one of the devs) in reply to someone complaining about Feeling Lucky:
Hey, thank you for the feedback. Yes, this achievement is a bit too hard to get. We will change it in the next update

+ It might not happen in the next hotfix, because this change will likely require a text change and retranslation, but we will take care of it.

I figured out a way to unlock it. Took a few tries but I got it.

So right now there's a bug with the Expedition UI (or at least there was before the update today, didn't bother to check if it's on there) in that it shows 25 total Food blueprints and 38 total Production blueprints. This is false - there's 21 food and maybe 33/34 Production. It actually bugs if you try completing one once you've hit the 'real' cap - attempting an Expedition while at 21/25 food results in receiving nothing for the run. Go figure.

You can attain 20/25 of the Food blueprints if you design the entire run around min maxing it. You have to a) make sure you never select any of the blueprints you can buy from vendors, only take the ones you cannot. b) Always check traders and purchase every one of their Food structure blueprints when they offer it. c) Take Cornerstones that increase the arrival time of Traders, as this allows you to check them more frequently for blueprints. d) Traders can also occasionally offer the Wildcard Pick-A-Blueprint option; if you get these, be it from Traders, as a Cornerstone selection, or from the Prestige Altar, always take the blueprints from whatever races you currently do not have access to, as this is the only way to get them. These are Lizards/Butcher, Foxes/Beanery, Beavers/Cellar, and Pantry/Frogs.

By putting 100% of your focus in to acquiring all 20 Food blueprints on your own, the run now comes down to simply surviving. By squeezing it out on Prestige 1 you should be fine without needing to buy anything else. By purchasing stuff from the traders as needed and utilizing the Crude shop, I was always able to go the distance.

There is also one additional Cornerstone you can unlock from the random box trader that offers you the ability to select any blueprint when 12 villagers die or leave. This opens up the door to more complicated combos utilizing things that cause you to lose no Impatience if they do, but I'll leave that rabbit hole up to you to go down.

While you're doing all of this, simply send your Strider out on Expeditions. You have 7 chances to hope that you will naturally dumb luck get the Foundry as a reward. The idea here is that when you do, you are 100% guaranteed to get the Homestead as you've forced the game in to HAVING to give it to you by naturally acquiring all 20 of the other Food blueprints. You are guaranteed to get it as #21.

It took me about four games to get the Foundry randomly as a reward. At that point I waited until I was at 20/25 shown on the Food category, sent out the strider and finished the Homestead.

Good luck.

Thanks for the writeup. But, uh... screw that. I'll wait for them to update it.

Ok. I may give it a try. It reads complicated though. But thank you so much for your effort

I have tried this strategy, but I never got the foundry blueprint -_-

You play in Prestige 1 difficulty? Also I find it really hard to collect all the blueprints in 1 run

if you don't want to wait for the update, it'd be way easier to just roll for foundry in the first expedition and abandon if you don't get it. when you do roll it, just do what the Naecabon said with resource gathering buildings
ValenValoryn Oct 1, 2024 @ 11:51am
ok. thx. I tried to do it but I never get enough blueprints nor the locky roll for foundry -_-

Is it known when the next update is relased?

Hey! Just letting you know that we plan to rework the Feeling Lucky achievement. We're not yet certain how exactly it will work, but you're right that - in the current state - it's not challenging in a fun way.
