Why could fishing not be just the same as getting berries from a bush, with the difference being that fish replenish based on remaining fish? So you can either fish slowly and have infinite fish, or overfish and get many fish now but none later? The pond would stay on the map either way, empty or not. That would feel much more natural, even of it is derivative of other games.
The ponds all being the same sizes is also strange. But the real mystery is: why does ponds even exist? Why not just fish from the water around the map (starts could be anywhere, instead of always in the middle of the island), or on inland rivers, or actual waterfilled areas interspersed similar to the fertile soil mechanic?
btw, I think ponds are probably exist there already before the great war of this world.
I even reported as "bug" as first because i was so confused by it.
I rather like it.
I rather don't. You have to dedicate three villagers if you want the rewards anytime soon, and the reward takes a long time even then. I would rather have a trickle until done, than the same amount of materials later, you know? Also, the bait thing means that I either feel bad for collecting without bait, or have to wait a long time for bait to come online, which means the rewards will take even longer go get.
Give me normal gathering any day.
